🌟 Nearly 1,000 delegates attended 14 dynamic events during Wolverhampton Business Week (September 23-27), seizing opportunities to gain valuable insights and unlock new prospects in a celebration of enterprise and innovation. 🎉 The final day saw over 220 people gather for the flagship Wolverhampton Business Breakfast hosted by Amber Sandhu. The Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, and Council Leader, Councillor Stephen Simkins, took the stage alongside prominent city partners and developers, showcasing how city centre housing schemes and new neighbourhoods are fueling economic growth in Wolverhampton. 🤝 Throughout the week, events catered to businesses of all sizes - from SMEs to entrepreneurs and sole traders - providing the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to thrive. 🚀 Notable launches included the pilot Social Enterprise Centre at Access To Business and the introduction of the WLV Business Link Network at University of Wolverhampton Science Park, a new initiative by the University of Wolverhampton aimed at helping businesses grow through expert consulting, workforce development, and specialised support. 📈 On Wednesday, Councillor Chris Burden, Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills, addressed a packed house at the Molineux Meets event, calling on employers and education providers to support the city's Education, Skills, and Employment Strategy and ensure the future workforce is equipped with the skills local businesses need. Yesterday, the team joined the celebrations at Victoria Square for the first-ever International Day of Birmingham! 🎉 The day, to be held annually on 24 September, was spearheaded by Brummie comedian Joe Lycett, who recently embarked on a unique journey across the U.S. to visit 10 other Birminghams. Through the signing of "Friendship Agreements", each is now united under the United States of Birmingham! Lord Mayor Ken Wood, who co-signed the agreements, expressed his hopes that these partnerships would foster lasting connections for years to come 🌍🤝 The afternoon was a vibrant celebration of Brummie heritage and community spirit, and featured dhol drummers, cheerleaders, stilt walkers, the iconic Number 11 bus, Mr Egg and local drag legends Ginny Lemon, Yshee Black and Don One. Birmingham-based architects and WMGC commercial partner, Howells, has submitted plans for the transformation and restoration of the Grade-II listed Birmingham Botanical Gardens, home to the region’s finest and largest collection of over 10,000 botanic species. The Growing our Green Heritage project has been supported by a Stage 1 The National Lottery Heritage Fund Fund grant. The project will provide a low-carbon, sympathetic reinterpretation of the existing gardens and structure and will deliver a long-term sustainable future for the gardens.
