📢 Staff Update 📢 😭 Billy (who many learners will know) has decided to return to the field, working alongside our previous and future learners on offshore wind farms around the world. We will all miss him (and his love of Greggs), and hope he rejoins The Wind Academy family again in the future (and not just for the pasties and peach melbas). 👋🏼 We extend a warm hello to Kelly, who will now be the main point of contact for booking onto courses and first point of contact for answering your questions and queries. She has already made the Houghton office some amazing sausage rolls, so it's a thumbs us from us! 📧 kelly@windacademy.co.uk

This week, our Operations Manager Lee Hoyland and Project Engineer Craig Shutt attended a Think Engineering session for North Tyneside Learning Trust at Blyth Energy Central Campus. Engineering students from four local sixth-form colleges were able to hear more about what a career in offshore wind involves, learning about the training and skills needed to for successful careers in our exciting industry. With hands-on experience in the sector, Craig is a fantastic role model and a real asset to our training programmes. By sharing real-world insights and on-the-job experiences, he provided students with a valuable glimpse into the career opportunities available, both in our region and globally. Lee reflected on the opportunity, saying: ”It was great to meet the next generation of Engineers and hope they gained an insight into our fast-growing renewable energy sector". #OffshoreWind #EngineeringCareers #FutureEngineers #RenewableEnergy #STEMEducation #GreenJobs #SkillsForTheFuture #WindIndustry

Our Managing Director Geoff Briggs was recently involved in a valuable session at The Carbon Trust, which tackled a critical issue facing the offshore wind sector. We believe that with improved HV training programmes and competency assessments, growth can continue and quality be improved. He said: "Plenty of input from everyone involved in the first of these sessions. I'm hopeful this continues through the next steps, with engagement from more stakeholders. We can improve quality and quantity together."
James Fisher Renewables (part of James Fisher and Sons plc), in collaboration with the Carbon Trust and other key stakeholders, recently tackled a critical issue facing the offshore wind sector— HV Jointers' quality and quantity. This challenge is essential to ensuring the industry's rapid growth isn't slowed by potential failures. We held an insightful stakeholder session at our office in London, bringing together OEMs, agencies, T&T companies, and training providers. The goal? To identify challenges and propose solutions that will shape a formal study. These findings will be instrumental in meeting future demands, preparing for the transition to 132kV IAC, and ensuring a sustainable workforce through consistent workmanship and dedicated training. A big thank you to everyone who participated! 👏 We're excited to analyse your valuable feedback and move forward with the next steps. If you have any thoughts or trend analyses to share, please get in touch with Karolina Zieba.
