A historic figure joins the #Thinkers50 Hall of Fame: Shibusawa Eiichi (1840-1931). Known as the father of Japanese capitalism, Shibusawa was a pivotal figure in Japan’s modernisation, founding over 500 enterprises and economic organisations. His philosophy of "the analects and the abacus" integrated business and morality, setting a powerful example for the role of corporations in generating both wealth and social good. Shibusawa’s legacy extends to social welfare, education, and international relations, marking him as a pioneer of modern Japanese industry and society.
