About us

We are a charitable organisation that exists to: ensure a strong third sector voice; develop the capacity of the sector to achieve change; be a central source of knowledge about the third sector; and provide leadership, vision and co-ordination. The third sector exists to improve the lives of the people and communities of Dumfries and Galloway and includes voluntary and community organisations, charities, social enterprises, co-operatives, credit unions, and mutuals, and all the people who volunteer and work within.

  • Today is International Women's Day 2025 with the theme #AccelerateAction. At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum. Focusing on the need to Accelerate Action emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.
