Yesterday Team Thirteen took part in the Middlesbrough 10K with Jane Tomlinson's Run For All to raise money for Great North Air Ambulance Service 🏃🏃🏻♀️ We were proud to be the lead sponsor for the event as part of our 10th birthday celebrations, and it was fantastic to see our local community come together to run for amazing charities and causes. Check out how some of the team got on before and after the race! 🎥 🥳 #middlesbrough10k

Janet was initially wary about living in supported housing, but feels that moving to Eston Community Village is one of the best things she's ever done. With a open plan apartment and care staff on site, Janet says that her current home is more suited to her needs than her previous flat. “In my old flat I used to fall a lot, and a lot of the falls were in the bathroom because it was so tiny that I couldn’t twist my wheelchair around. These flats are much more catered to people with disabilities. "It's put my family's mind at rest. It gives you a lot of independence. “I would say the carers are my favourite thing about living here. They don’t feel like staff members, they feel like friends. I’m really grateful for everything that they do. They are all lovely. They look after us." Supported housing is a vital service that empowers more than half a million people to live independently. That's why we're proud to be supporting Starts at Home, a national campaign that celebrates the value of care and support services and the difference that having a safe and secure place to call home makes to people's lives. As part of the campaign, we'll be sharing stories from our customers about what supported housing means to them. #StartsatHome

We're taking to the road to help our customers. 🚐 We’re launching a brand new initiative based on customer feedback, which will give our customers and the local community easier access to speak to colleagues face to face. The ‘mobile touchpoint’ will visit the communities we serve throughout the year, providing people with an opportunity to report repairs, provide feedback, discuss their tenancies, find a new home to rent or buy or receive employment support. The first stops for the mobile touchpoint will be the Middlesbrough 10K this Sunday, before it sets off to York, Sunderland and Northumberland over the coming weeks and months. Thirteen’s ongoing environmental efforts have been recognised in an annual audit of our green credentials. To show our commitment in driving down our carbon footprint, last year we achieved ISO 14001 accreditation and following a progress check from auditors, our standards, systems and processes have been recognised. ISO 14001 is a measure of how successfully an organisation is managing any potential negative impact on the environment, how it is working to reduce it and the management system created and implemented to do this. Making sure customers, colleagues and organisations we work with are on board with the journey to net zero is a priority, and the inspection looked at how we work with suppliers and contractors. A key area of our focus remains on creating homes for our customers with a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C by 2030 and meet government net-zero ambitions by 2050 – reaching net zero carbon in our direct business emissions by 2035.

A message from Thirteen's Chief Executive, Matt Forrest on supporting our communities 🏠 "Everyone at Thirteen is deeply shocked, upset and angry by the recent unrest and violence, some of which took place close to neighbourhoods we serve. "Dividing communities, destroying property and violence of any kind, is the opposite of what we, and the communities we are proud to support, stand for. Thirteen works tirelessly to ensure our customers feel safe and secure in their homes. "We’ve continued to work closely with partner organisations to co-ordinate support to those affected and will ensure that we remain vigilant while this unrest continues. This includes clearing up damage and mess caused by others. "In spite of recent events, Thirteen remains more committed than ever to working with our thriving local communities and our customers to ensure these communities recover quickly and put this unrest behind us."

Work is underway to carry out a £4.3million refurbishment plan at two supported housing schemes in Hartlepool. We’re working in partnership with Esh Group on the plans at Bramley Court and Richard Court, which will benefit from a range of internal and external improvements. This is one of many exciting investment schemes which is being delivered this year as part of our £55million home investment programme, to bring thousands of home improvements to our customers’ homes in the North East and Yorkshire.
