🎉RETROPOP turns TWO🎉 OK, so *technically* that was a good few weeks back, since we soft-launched in December 2021. BUT... Three months later, in ⚡️March 2022⚡️, we took the leap and Irresistible published the first monthly edition of the magazine and began a wild ride, navigating a space that's notoriously difficult and incredibly fickle. I knew when we started that it was all or nothing and if this was going to work, we had to look beyond specialist stores and D2C, positioning the brand alongside all the other major-publisher-backed titles on offer. 📚So, having started out in WHSmith and local newsagents, we soon attracted the attention of supermarkets across the UK (Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose & Partners), along with entertainment giants like HMV, helping us reach new audiences while building up a global subscriber base. 📲In that time, we also partnered with PressReader to expand our digital reach and have the title serviced to airlines and hotels globally, along with users' devices directly. ✨And of course, we continue to work closely with some of the biggest and most iconic companies in music - Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, BMG - The New Music Company, Warner Music Group, to name a few - to deliver leading, exclusive content every day across print and online. Looking back, it's wild to have gone from the seed of an idea to a global brand that reaches in excess of six million monthly users across platforms and thousands in print - and yet it still feels as though we're only getting started. As we embark upon the next chapter in our journey with our recently-launched 🌱seed fundraising round🌱, now seemed like the perfect opportunity to reflect on what we've achieved so far say a huge 'thank you' to everyone involved. We have big plans for the future and I'm so excited for what's in store for Irresistible🤐 Here's to everything that's still to come🙌🏼
If you haven't already, be sure to pick up the latest edition of RETROPOP, featuring Anastacia, UB40, Rebecca Ferguson, Dee C. Lee, Starsailor, Electribe 101 and loads more! 🎤Live Events🎤 One of our highlights of the past six months has been venturing into the events space, starting at the tail end of 2023 with pop star Alexis Strum. Her story takes plenty of twists and turns; she was signed to Warner Music Group and set to make it big, before a misunderstanding about a song lyric - 'I overdosed on Chunky Monkey' aka Ben & Jerry's banana ice cream (not crack as a producer on 'Lorraine' thought) - saw her dropped by the label and her debut album, 'Addicted', shelved. Two of the songs were later picked up by Kylie Minogue and Rachel Stevens. Not bad, eh?! She then signed another deal and made an entire new album with people like Billy Steinberg (who also wrote Like A Virgin, True Colors, Eternal Flame), but problems at the label saw 'Cocoon' locked away in the vaults too. When her records finally made it out last summer following a campaign from fans online, which picked up national press coverage, Irresistible began working with Alexis and Double J Music on a special 'An Evening With' launch show, which took place in East London and saw fans travel from across the UK to celebrate the releases, 20 years later. The 14-song set was recorded and filmed, while the intimate evening also included an interactive Q&A with Alexis, who signed vinyl and CDs, and came out to chat and have a drink with fans after the show. We're already planning more live events for the near future with artists from around the globe, as part of our strive to build meaningful connections with our audiences and bring them closer to our content than ever before. 💬If you're in the events space and would like to discuss partnership opportunities, drop us a line and let's chat! #media #events #music
