    Was Burger King's $5 Twitch donation promotion exploitative or just shrewd marketing? 👀 It's best to dive into the pros and cons to answer that question. Undoubtedly, it was a clever use of the stream system to engage talent and audiences directly. The phrase that comes to mind is "any publicity is good publicity". 💰 The cons? How Burger King did it. Influencers saw it as a hijacking of their content, especially when it's brand sponsorship deals they rely on most. There are still many ways to think out of the box and make great marketing moves. 📚 Our key takeaway? Innovative, yes, we're all for it, but such strategies should be one-offs. Why? Repetition can lead to unforeseen impacts in the digital ecosystem, affecting communities and content creators. Our idea would be to invite the talent to participate in the campaign; we know dedicated streamers who would love to be invited to a campaign like this, and audience sentiment would be increased significantly. Let's explore two contrasting approaches: Uber Eats' campaign with Blizzard Activision and Burger King's Twitch donation strategy. 👾 In 2020, BK used Twitch's donation feature for promotions, making $1-$5 donations to streamers, with a bot reading out the ads. Clever? Maybe. But it sparked a debate about the ethical boundaries in marketing, with accusations of exploiting streamer platforms for cheap exposure. 🤝 Uber Eats & AFK's Strategy: Contrastingly, this campaign was about immersive experience and relevance rather than intrusive ads. We chose influencers who were authentic to the gaming world, integrating Uber Eats seamlessly into the gaming narrative. The result? A 330% ROI and a significant increase in brand consideration, all while respecting the gaming community's ethos. 🔍 The Difference? One campaign was seen as an unethical hack, the other as a thoughtful, integrated marketing strategy. The key lies in how the audience perceives the approach.     Finding the perfect creators can turn an integration campaign from a 7 to a 10. 👀 Unboxing the results from our Bespoke Post campaign revealed some outstanding results: 🌟 2 Million Total Views Gained ⏱️ 86 Seconds Average Integration Length 🙋♀️ 13 Talents Deployed 📈 400+ Conversions But how did we achieve this? The answer was all in selecting the right creators. Our experience in the creator space put us in the perfect position to find those who aligned with Bespoke Posts' outdoor & survival brand. You can select the most prominent creators in the world. But would they care about the brand? Would they go the extra mile or do the bare minimum? Impressively, 100% of our creators delivered integrations surpassing the standard 45 seconds. In fact, 78% showcased the brand for at least 60 seconds, as they genuinely loved the brand. Fall asleep at the marketing wheel; the next platform, trend, or creator has taken off, and you're already behind. The gaming market is a space that has, in recent years, taken off. However, there is still time to join the party and tell your brand's story. In fact, it's the best place to do it. Why? Because, unlike other mediums, gaming audiences aren't just passive viewers but active participants. If done effectively, audiences can interact with the brand in-game. From in-game advertising, skins, and branded virtual worlds, there's no doubt gaming enables brands to reach audiences more interactively.     🍔 Burger King's $5 Twitch donation promotion: exploitative or clever marketing? 👀 When Burger King started their new Twitch marketing campaign in 2020, it raised a few eyebrows. None more than the Twitch influencers themselves. Why? They felt Burger King was exploiting streams without their permission. So, how did Burger King do this? 👾 Utilising Twitch's donation feature, Burger King made small donations (between $1 and $5) to various streamers. These donations weren't just monetary; they carried promotional plugs for Burger King's app and summer deals, read live by a bot during the streams. Harmless? Think again because while this certainly saved money for Burger King, it undermined Twitch streamers who heavily rely on brand sponsorships.  The move created a debate. Was this a clever 'back door' marketing strategy by Burger King's agency, or did it cross an ethical line? 🚀 This campaign raises crucial questions about the balance between innovation and respect for content creators, but what's your take? Often, it’s due to a need for more understanding of gaming culture and its nuanced audiences. Luckily for your brand, we’re here to bridge that gap. Yes, entering the gaming sphere can seem intimidating, but brands find success when it's done in a way that enhances the gaming experience rather than interrupts it. In our recent Uber Eats campaign, this is precisely what we did. World of Warcraft and Uber Eats. How do you make this a match made in heaven? Firstly, it's about partnering with core creators of the ARPG community, as well as selecting influencers who often enjoy food delivery breaks with their Twitch communities. Combine that with creators who play a ton of WoW, and you have the perfect creators for an Uber Eats activation. 🤝 When creators love participating in a campaign, it translates seamlessly into positive audience sentiment, which, in turn, translates into results.     Turning an underdog into a core member of the gaming community 🤝 AFK We were tasked with establishing Uber Eats' presence in the EMEA gaming market. The problem at hand? Less than 5% of the communities we surveyed were aware of Uber Eats. This was about to change: AFK partnered with Blizzard Activision and Uber Eats in this collaboration, fusing the realms of premier food delivery and gaming. Our mission? To bring your favourite meals right to the heart of Azeroth. 🎮 💡 To do that, we had to partner with the perfect creators for this promotion, influencers who regularly ordered food on stream and were experts at navigating Azeroth. This is because they were delivering food codes to the most challenging destinations. In addition to identification, we supported Blizzard Activision and Uber Eats with a 360 influencer marketing service, covering negotiations, contracting, and creator payments, as well as overseeing a flawless execution of the campaign. As part of the reporting, we surveyed audiences in advance, during and after the campaign to measure the increase in purchase consideration. Additionally, we introduced the innovative AFK Overlay to Activision Blizzard & Uber Eats, a game-changer in generating engagement and driving Uber Eats conversions. Our creative strategy wasn't just about delivering food but about creating an immersive experience that connects the gamers of Azeroth with Uber Eats.
