IMPORTANT UPDATE We are very sad to let you know that we have started the process of winding down Thistle Boxer Rescue, as an operating Charity and boxer dog rescue. We are working with OSCR in this process and hoping to have completed all the necessary steps by the end of September, including shutting down our social media pages and website. We have ceased all rescue activities, and are therefore not taking on any further dogs into our care, or accepting foster or adoption applications. We have also ceased any active fundraising activities. As part of this process we are contacting all the families that have adopted dogs through us to advise on what will happen in the future with support. We have loved being able to rescue and rehome dogs over the last 6 years, but unfortunately due to operating challenges it makes it difficult to continue being run by such a small team of volunteers For those of you that have given their time, support and money over the years we are incredibly thankful. 🙏 We are very proud of what we have achieved as such a small charity. It has been incredibly hard work, but very fulfilling, and we hope that the passion and energy that we have for boxers and our dedication to finding their forever sofas, has come across. The charity has always had the best interests of the breed at the heart of what we do. If you have any regular donations set up, or have us nominated as your charity of choice anywhere, please can you change this. We will miss giving you daily social media posts and providing updates on the dogs that have come through our care over the years, but we look forward to following their progress via other boxer pages. Thank you again for your support Diane, Libby, Stacey, Fiona and Kate 🐾🐾🐾🙏

If you’re thinking of introducing a pet friendly policy at work, the article below is a great starting point
Pet-friendly policies are highly in-demand, and research demonstrates the benefits they can introduce for pet loving employees. HABRI wants to help workplaces embrace pet-friendly policies, even when pets in the office aren’t an option. We created the "10 Ways to be a Pet-Friendly Workplace” infographic to help businesses find creative ways to help their pet owning employees. Please share this infographic for #TakeYourPetToWorkWeek and help us spread the joy of pets at work! https://lnkd.in/gnrFQw_8

Opening your home up to an older dog in need will undoubtedly be not for everyone. However, in talking to all the wonderful families who have adopted an older dog from us over the years, the one thing they never cite is regret. The other thing each of these families have in common, is the willingness and selflessness to ensure that the dog has the best final part of their journey above all else. Wonderful story below about Buddy to share #adoptolderpets #frostface #giveanderdogachance
Budding animal lovers across the nation are touched by the heart-warming story of Buddy, a thirteen-year-old labrador-cross who got the Pets at Home VIP treatment he deserved in his final days. Owners Paul and Sara revealed that their beloved pet’s severe reactivity to other dogs had led to him living a sheltered life for years. But when Buddy’s health began to deteriorate, they knew they wanted to be able to give him an experience he’d never had before, so they reached out to Pets at Home Bicester to see if they could help. Upon hearing their request, Assistant Manager Lisa got to work arranging a VIP visit for Buddy, organising for the store to stay open late and laying out a host of treats and giving him the run of the shop. Other store colleagues opted to stay behind late so that they could be part of Buddy’s final wish. Paul said: “As I walked in, I clocked the staff had laid out a sheet of paper on the floor that spelled out ‘Hello Buddy’ in treats. Once I saw that I just went to pieces and burst into tears. Because he had led such a sheltered life out of necessity, he’d never had the opportunity to experience all the smells and enjoyment of Pets at Home like other dogs so it was so great that we got to do that for him.” Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/edWACnMm #PetsatHome

The Yellow Dog campaign helps raise awareness for the general public about dogs that need some space when out on walks Not ever dog can be off lead; not every dog is ok with having other dogs approach them and not every dog wants interaction with other people or dogs. This can be for a number of reasons - the dog has had a bad experience with another dog so is scared/anxious; the dog may be in the middle of training, or simply a dog that may not like other dogs. Many rescue dogs are still settling into their new environments. The dog will already be over stimulated so by adding something yellow, allows their owners to hopefully signal that the dog needs space to others. If you come across someone who has something yellow on their dog (harness; lead; collar or a sign) please stop and think about approaching with your dog. Always ask the dog owner before approaching; they will be only too happy to explain. Also please note they know their dog better than you do because please be respectful if they ask you to step away with your dog. They may be trying to socialise their dog in areas to build confidence and also it is not always possible to avoid other dogs on each dog walk. They are trying to keep their dog safe and would not want the added responsibility of having to worry about your dog too. For more information on the campaign or please check out their site: https://lnkd.in/eWVSZBjW. #responsibledogownership #yellowdogcampaign #rescuedogs

Pawternity leave - heard of it? We hadnt, but as a rescue that ensures that there is someone at home during the foster period and beyond that, having adopters working for companies who give time off for settling in their new pets is music to our ears This article shares what it is and also highlights some employers that have inplemented pet friendly practices. So we were even more delighted to see that a Scottish based employer BrewDog is leading the way 🙌🏻🐶🏴 Take a look and let us know what you think? #dogfriendly #bringyourdogtowork #brewdog #scottishdogrescue https://lnkd.in/etjaQ5GZ
