At 93 years old, Charles Agyapong has seen and experienced the life of farming for almost a century. Charles comes from Abetifi in Eastern Ghana and works as the linguist to the Chief of Takyikrom. He is also a hard working farmer with 15 acres of his own land. An intelligent man, he is committed to organic cocoa farming, relying on his crop to support his wife and 6 children. The knowledge of an individual such as Charles Agyapong is to be cherished and respected. His experience holds the full context, the bigger picture. We are proud to work with farmers like Charles who teach us both the history and the ways of working within the community. We support their methods and help to develop improvements to bring a better standard of living for everyone who contributes to the cocoa growing process. We are here for change, for the better, from the roots! #organicfarming #beantobar #organiccocoa #treetobar #craftchocolate

Did you know? Shade trees in cocoa farms aren't just for keeping things cool—they're nature's nutrient recyclers! Shade trees play a crucial role in cocoa production by acting as natural #nutrient recyclers. These trees, often integrated into cocoa fields, shed leaves and organic matter, which decompose and enrich the soil with essential nutrients. This process not only improves #soil fertility but also enhances the cocoa plants' health and productivity. By reducing the need for chemical #fertilisers, shade trees promote sustainable farming practices. Moreover, they help maintain soil moisture, prevent erosion, and support biodiversity, creating a more resilient ecosystem for cocoa cultivation. Support sustainable cocoa, support the planet. 🌍 #ThreeMountainsCocoa #SustainableFarming #OrganicFarming

We are deeply committed to ensuring the protection and welfare of children in the cocoa production process on our farms. Our dedication aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to eradicate #childlabour entirely by 2025. Our Child Labour Policy is designed to prevent and address child labour in our cocoa farming operations, in compliance with Ghanaian law, international labour standards, and with the best interests of the children at heart. We contribute to the elimination of child labour and address its root causes within the #cocoaproduction sector. We are focused on preventing the use of child labour in all our cocoa farming operations. By doing so, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive without being subjected to labour that hampers their growth and development. Improving the prospects of youth in #cocoa producing areas is one of our critical goals. We strive to provide better opportunities and support to young people, ensuring they have access to education and pathways to a brighter future. This includes promoting awareness and understanding of child labour issues among our employees, suppliers, communities, and other stakeholders. By educating our network, we hope to foster a collective responsibility towards eliminating child labour. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. We work closely with local authorities, communities, and organisations to address the root causes of child labour, such as poverty and lack of access to education. By tackling these fundamental issues, we aim to create sustainable solutions that benefit not only the children but the entire community. We believe that every child deserves a childhood free from labour, with access to education and opportunities for a better future. By adhering to our Child Labour Policy, we are taking concrete steps to ensure a sustainable and ethical cocoa production process.
