Custom portfolios between advice firms and DFMs are attracting more interest, but there is debate over the value add to clients and whether IFAs can earn extra fees. Vanessa Johnson, head of compliance strategy at threesixty services, said: 'Advisers could receive more fees for their roles as co-manufacturers but need to be ‘doing something for the money’, for example by having a meaningful influence on the portfolios. Any additional co-manufacturing fee should only come through adviser charging from the client. Because of COBS 6.1A.4, the adviser firm should be remunerated for its co-manufacturing role through adviser charges'. https://lnkd.in/eKEyFX82

Fair value survey 2024 Our consultants are regularly asked questions about what they see in terms of the propositions and fees charged by other firms. To help address this, we conducted a Fair Value Benchmark Survey last year, to help firms benchmark their charging structures. This year, we’ve enhanced the survey to deliver even more valuable insights. Participants will gain access to detailed management information, which can help firms meet the fair value requirements and demonstrate they’re providing fair value. Here’s a spoiler: Last year the average cost across all respondents of their ongoing advice, including the entire distribution chain, was 1.52%. Has this changed?
