Wave of Light 2024 💜🕯️ Tonight, at 7pm we light candles to remember and honour babies that left us too soon. We hope you will join us in remembering and honouring these babies and their families by lighting your candles and leaving them burning for one hour.

Today we are celebrating Allied Health Professions Day and saying thank you for the amazing contribution that these talented teams make to the NHS, particularly those who make up the team on Ward 35. 💛 Allied Health Professions (AHPs) are the third largest workforce in the NHS, providing a variety of support from assessment, to discharge and beyond. Their main focus is on prevention and improvement of health and wellbeing, and did you know that at Tiny Lives we provide funding for Physiotherapists on Ward 35? This additional funding from Tiny Lives allows a dedicated team to be on the Unit and to complete relevant projects and training to better help parents and families spending time on the unit. Thank you! #AHPDay #alliedhealthprofessionals #alliedhealthprofessions #TinyLives #neonatal #preemie #NorthEastandCumbria

"We all love our job and love looking after the babies and families and we would love to give something back!" Later this month an amazing group of the nursing team at the RVI are taking on the challenge to climb Blencathra to fundraise for Tiny Lives. 💛 The team are taking on the challenge for every single one of the babies that have blessed us on the unit and who have gone home. And especially for all the babies that gained their wings in heaven. Today is World Mental Health Day 🧠 We're here for families from the first time you set foot on the ward and for the whole of your neonatal journey, and there are lots of ways that Tiny Lives can support you and your mental health. Every family is different, and each neonatal journey is unique, but whatever your circumstance, being on the unit with your child can have a huge impact on your mental health. Remember that there is no right way to be feeling, and feelings of anxiety, stress, and fear are completely normal – that’s why we are here with support and guidance during and after your time on the neonatal unit. Here are just some ways to look after your mental health while you are spending time on the unit: 💛 Take time away from the cot side 💛 It’s okay to ask and accept help 💛 Talk to someone 💛 Eat well & stay hydrated 💛 Try to get some sleep 💛 Take a moment to breathe 💛 Do something for you – even if its only 5 minutes When on the neonatal unit thinking about looking after yourself can be hard. We'd love to hear any ways you use to take care of your mental health to share with NICU families. #WorldMentalHealthDay2024 #mentalhealth #neonatal

Today marks the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness Week 🕯️ It is a tragic fact that not all babies make it home from the neonatal unit. This week is a week for raising awareness of the loss that many families face, remembering the babies who are sadly no longer with us, and sending love and support to all those who have experienced this immeasurable loss. You are not alone. 💛

Along with a great range of Tiny Lives merch, our online shop also gives you the chance to give a virtual gift to a loved one 💛 By buying a virtual gift you are supporting families as they navigate the neonatal journey. This gift represents the typical cost of supporting a neonatal family with a Parent Pack when their baby is admitted to the Neonatal Unit. Our virtual gifts are real examples of the ways in which Tiny Lives supports the babies and families of Newcastle’s RVI Neonatal Unit and we will ensure that your donation will go towards where the babies and families need it most. You will receive an instant downloadable gift that you can print or email to the recipient. https://lnkd.in/eHvxksz7 #shoplocal #charity #support #NorthEastEngland #TinyLives #neonatal #preemie

Recently, Tiny Lives celebrated our 10th anniversary as an independent charity and over this time we've helped thousands of families during the most difficult of times. Today we are launching our new five year strategy that will allow us to give even more sick and premature babies in the North East & North Cumbria the best possible opportunity to thrive. Families are at the heart of everything that we do and our future focus will see us deepening our relationship with the RVI hospital, as well as working to support even more families across the North East & North Cumbria, including those families who are currently under represented within our service. The first 1,001 days, from conception to age two, are fundamental to a child's lifelong emotional and physical wellbeing and we want to play a defining role in supporting premature and sick newborn babies and their families during this critical period. This strategy is the result of months of collaboration and consultation with families, supporters, staff and board members and reflects what we want to achieve, how we will prioritise our activities and resources, and how we will know if it's working. You can read more about what our future focus means for Tiny Lives families via the link below and if you have any questions or comments at all please do let us know. https://lnkd.in/eFKPZkDX https://lnkd.in/e45c9Gzt #TinyLives #neonatal #NorthEastCharity #NorthEastEngland #NorhtEastandCumbria #strategy
