What a night! I certainly know how to look awkward in a photo, but nonetheless, it was great to round off a fantastic few days at the TMT Finance World Congress by scooping no fewer than FIVE awards at the TMT Finance M&A EMEA Awards 2025! ⭐🏅🎉 The six of us here (Tom Allen is not a Linklaters lawyer, sadly) represent a much bigger team of lawyers and business professionals who, led by David Martin, have been lucky enough to work on some of the most exciting matters in the market over the past year. We’re always very grateful that our fantastic clients have trusted our full-service, global team with their most important mandates – and it was a real honour to take a few hours away from the desk to mark the moment. A perennial question from undergraduates is what keeps me at Linklaters and in the law. It’s not actually the awards (although I was delighted that our fantastic team was recognised by TMT Finance and the judging panel of peers across the industry). But instead how constantly changing our work and sectors are. 15 years ago, I didn’t know what a data centre was. Now there is an entire industry and sector of engaged and exciting professionals pushing boundaries and working hard to build digital infrastructure for our world. I wonder what sectors will be flourishing in 2040 (and will I still be able to wear pink sequins)?!

We did a thing! Forgive me a small moment of pride. Linklaters started to invest meaningfully in a cross-practice cross-jurisdiction #digitalinfrastructure platform many years ago. We already had the market leading components and sector expertise. To be recognised by TMT Finance (and the judges) and win 5 awards at their prestigious EMEA Awards 2025 is therefore great recognition of our investment and our talented team. We have been fortunate to work with some amazing clients on some fantastic transactions (and many more that didn't quite happen) - thank you. Literally hundreds of our lawyers have worked on these deals (supported by our business team) across our offices - lots of late nights, personal sacrifices, huge commitment and hard work. Not only very large complex transactions but lots of them. The award winning stabilised asset deal Vantage Data Centers DigitalBridge and NetCo deal will be precedent transactions for many to follow. A huge congratulations also to all of the other winners, notably the other advisers we work alongside and opposite. Your professionalism and humour continues to make it a great market to work in. Didn't make the stage this year, as was home ill and being updated from the floor!
