We have over 800 incredible employees and passionate volunteers who support over 2,000 individuals and families each year. Our staff receive extensive specialist training and ongoing support to help them meet the needs of our many service users. Our amazing Stockport Speech and Language Therapy team held a bake sale to raise money for their service! The team of keen bakers put together an impressive spread of cakes, brownies and other sweet treats. The team are raising funds for Switch Toys, used for supporting the assessments and therapy carried out by the team. Switch adapted toys help our young people with physical and visual impairments to access play and leisure and support their communication. They say "We’ve really enjoyed doing it. It’s been really lovely to have something in mind our service needs and to support raise awareness in the setting." If you want to support them, you can still donate at: https://lnkd.in/dWfcVBiG

With only a few days left until Halloween Together, here are answers to some frequently asked questions and a few rules we'd like to ask you to follow: -Please don't wear costumes that are offensive or discriminatory. We're here to have fun! -This is a event for all ages! A lot of the entertainment is targeted at children, however the whole family can enjoy the day. -We are aiming to make the event as accessible as we can. There will be a quiet hour, signs using PECS symbols, flat tarmacked paths, accessible toilets (including hoist and plinth), a sitting area, ramps, Mental Health first aiders. -No pets allowed. However, service dogs are permitted. -There will be a variety of food and drinks vendors. -Entry tickets can be bought using both card and cash, however some vendors may only be able to do cash payments. We advise you bring some cash with you. -There is parking available. -No smoking, e-cigarettes or vaping of any kind allowed on the premises. We can’t wait for you all to join us this Saturday for what will be one of our most exciting events to date. You can get still get tickets: https://lnkd.in/d-bwcYtC

Three talented students from Bridge College—McKenzie, Jamal, and Bayley—have started work experience with Sodexo through Bridge College’s Supported Internship Program. This incredible opportunity allows them to explore diverse roles within a global leader in sustainable food services, with the ultimate goal of securing paid employment after a year. They have been involved in various areas of Sodexo, discovering opportunities in health and safety, food preparation, security, and administration. Before diving into their hands-on experiences, they have honed their skills in a classroom environment, learning what it takes to be an outstanding employee and mastering the skills needed for success in different areas. In collaboration with DFN Project SEARCH , Bridge College and Sodexo are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for our students. DFN Project SEARCH is a transformative one-year transition-to-work program designed for young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. Well done and best of luck to McKenzie, Jamal, and Bayley!

Hifza loves talking to people. She says work experience makes her feel more confident and loves being part of the community. For her work experience at East Manchester Leisure Centre, she's had to do it all: from talking to customers to working with digital systems. Work experience is really important for disabled young people. Getting practical hands-on skills in the workplace can have a huge impact on their independence and future. We are so incredibly proud of Hifza, and students at Bridge College that push themselves to try things outside of their comfort zone. We couldn't do this without the help of kind employers who allow our students to experience a busy workplace. If you know a business that could offer work experience for a few hours a week, please get in touch!
