Our mission is to inspire and enable people across Forth Valley to live well with dementia.
About us
Town Break began its journey in 1992, set up by Rosas Mitchell to provide support services for people living with dementia and their unpaid carers. Since then we have grown and grown, and in 2022, our 30th Anniversary year, we expanded even more. This means we can reach more people and provide vital care and support to those in our communities living with dementia and their loved ones. Behind our philosophy is a person-centred and holistic approach, with the emotional spiritual and physical well-being of people living with dementia and their unpaid carer at the heart of all we do. Through our dedicated and highly skilled staff and volunteers, we provide a range of therapeutic services, liaising with both statutory and voluntary partners to provide the best possible services across the Forth Valley area.

🌟 What a week it’s been at Town Break! As part of our ongoing mission to inspire and enable people across Forth Valley to live well with dementia, we’ve had a busy few days making meaningful connections and delivering our services across the region. 💜 Today, our Falkirk group enjoyed an outing to the beautiful Callander House, a French-style chateau in the heart of Falkirk. 🏰 Everyone had a great time exploring the rich history and stunning architecture with a detailed tour, and we topped it off with a lovely afternoon tea! 🍰☕ We couldn’t do it without the support of our incredible volunteers, who bring so much joy and dedication to everything we do. Thank you to everyone who came along, to the wonderful team at Callander House for hosting, and to the Falkirk Herald for capturing the day so beautifully! 📸 It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of connection and community. What a great way to end the week! Have a fantastic weekend, everyone! 🌟 #TownBreak #DementiaSupport #Falkirk #LivingWellWithDementia #CommunitySupport #CallanderHouse #FalkirkHerald

Last night was a truly special evening at the Stirling Voluntary Enterprise Awards! ✨ Our Team Leader, Davina, attended alongside three of our amazing volunteers – Agnes, Liz, and Jean – as we were shortlisted for the Volunteering for Health and Wellbeing award. 🏅 Although we didn’t win, just being shortlisted is a testament to the dedication and impact of every single one of our volunteers. Your commitment to supporting people living with dementia and their carers is life-changing. 💜 To all our volunteers: you are the heartBEAT of Town Break. We’re so grateful for the time, care, and compassion you give. You might not wear capes, but you're real-life heroes to us! A huge thank you to our patron, ginaontheradio, for presenting the awards and making the night. We couldn’t be prouder of this community. 🎤💫 Thank you, volunteers – you make a difference every single day! If you're interested in joining our incredible team of volunteers, please visit our website https://lnkd.in/ezPKQUPG or email admin@townbreak.org. We’d love to hear from you! 🙌 #GratefulForVolunteers #HealthAndWellbeingHeroes #TownBreakFamily #CommunityImpact

🏰 A Day of Connection at Scone Palace 🏰 Yesterday, we hosted our second annual social outing of the year at the beautiful Scone Palace, and it was a great day! This trip was especially exciting as it welcomed people who hadn’t previously joined our outings. Due to overwhelming demand, attendance was balloted to ensure fair access, making this event even more special for those who were able to join. Even for those who didn’t secure a place on the trip, we ensured a special day across all our services in Forth Valley, where everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea and musical bingo. This allowed us to spread the joy and keep the spirit of the day alive throughout Forth Valley. At Scone Palace we spent the day, enjoying sunshine, scones, bingo, and a singalong - finishing with a lovely afternoon tea in the Old Kitchen. ☀️🍰🎶 And thanks to our partnership with Dementia Friendly Dunblane and funding from Age Scotland’s About Dementia programme, the entire trip was completely free of charge for everyone who attended! 🎉 But this outing is just one example of the bigger work we’re doing at Town Break. We support nearly 700 people affected by dementia across Forth Valley, with 20 services running in Stirling, Falkirk, and Clackmannanshire. For our volunteers, it’s important to know that Town Break is much more than the service you volunteer at. Your efforts are part of a wider network, helping us reach and support a large and growing community of people affected by dementia across Forth Valley. Together, we’re making a real difference. 💜 Thank you for being part of this important mission. #TownBreakDementiaSupport #SupportingForthValley #VolunteeringForChange #DementiaSupport

Great to be part of this project, and welcome everyone to Stirling and Town Break Dementia Support! 🩵💚💜
I Wish I'd Never left Scotland - Returning & Reminiscing, for the First Time since 1958. 🎥The Trailer - with the documentary coming soon. 👏🏾Living life to its fullness, Mrs. Richards returns, reflecting on past positive experiences. 💡In her journey, she discovered historical links between Scotland, Barbados, and the wider Caribbean. 💥She emphasises the importance of early timely diagnosis and the value of being well-supported for all those living with dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. 🌴Recruited in 1955 whilst still living in Barbados to work as a chambermaid in the Allan Park Hotel, Stirling (Scotland), Mrs. Muriel Richards's dream return was arranged by myself with the support of The Dementia Trust, Historic England, SACMHA Health & Social Care and Natasha Wilson@Dementia Dream Makers. 👍🏾Stirling's Town Break Dementia Support for such an embracing welcome and the fun that we all had in the interactive session that you trusted me in facilitating. 👍🏾🎥 Great film-work John Duncan #DementiaAwareness #AlzheimersSupport #diversityinhealthcare #healthandsocialcare #everydayheritage #culturalappropriateresources #healthcarecommunications #sheffieldissuper
