📣 Budget Watch: Changes to Agricultural Reliefs – A disaster for family farms? 🚜 The recent changes to Business and Agricultural Reliefs from Inheritance Tax announced in the Autumn Budget grabbed headlines with many farmers anxious about what this means for their family farms. 🌱 Effective from 6 April 2026, the changes are as follows: 💼 A £1,000,000 cap on 100% Inheritance Tax relief for qualifying business and agricultural property. 📉 Relief above this amount reduced by 50%, with a 20% tax rate on the excess. We all expected something big on Inheritance Tax for park owners – and we were not disappointed. The key changes are as follows: 🚜 Business Relief and Agricultural Relief: the protection offered from Inheritance Tax by Business Relief and Agricultural Relief has been reduced. 💷 Pensions: inherited pensions and death benefits payable from a pension to a person’s estate are being brought within the scope of Inheritance Tax 💼 Tax Allowances: no changes are being made to the basic Inheritance Tax allowances.
