How can the power and potential of school design be harnessed to enable all students and educators to excel? Schools have complex building requirements that must meet a wide circle of needs and cater to a diverse range of people. Spatial design has an immediate effect on learning outcomes as well as impacting a school's culture, community, wellbeing, diversity, equity, inclusion and justice aspirations. In partnership with the ECIS, the Educational Collaborative for International Schools and The Mona Lisa Effect®Matthew Savage, the Liberated Schools Conference will proactively demonstrate how school spaces can be designed and adapted to create a positive, inclusive and student-centric learning environment. Join international educators, architects, designers, health professionals, students and manufacturers to explore how to activate transformational change in school design. 📅 Date: 8 & 9 November 2024 📍 Location: The Eromesmarko Design Centre in Wijchen, The Netherlands. Happy 10th birthday to our Manchester studio! Born and bred in Sheffield, our northern studio founder, Leigh Dimelow, wanted to localise tp bennett’s design offering, supporting our clients and shaping the built environment across the north of England. Reaching beyond trends, we work together with clients such as BT, DLA Piper, Freshfields, Hilti & Timpson’s to create spaces that really transform how you experience and interact with them. Representing a new standard in green office developments, we are proud of our partnerships with Fore Partnerships at Windmill Green in Manchester city centre and MEPC at 11 & 12 Wellington Place in Leeds, demonstrating how business success can be aligned with sustainable and positive social impact. Integrating many voices and viewpoints, a big shout out to the tp bennett team whose unique perspectives inform every project. Looking back, there’s so much to celebrate and so much to look forward to, thank you for all your support! #architecture #interiors #manchester

Why don’t we value products more? Every year, our planet sees 2.12 BILLION TONNES of discarded items. Reflecting on last month's ‘In the Making’ exhibition at Material Matters – a collaboration between the sustainability teams at tp bennett and The Furniture Practice, alongside 12 brands with outstanding material and product stories. Curated in-house, we want to thank all the wonderful suppliers for sharing their inspiring and thought-provoking stories. Material Matters, with its focus on material innovation and the circular economy, was the perfect platform for ‘In the Making’. The exhibition aimed to peel back the polished façade of commercial products, revealing the time, care, resources, and the human and environmental impacts behind their creation—often overlooked aspects. We hope it inspires more informed choices, greater appreciation for the true value of these products, and ultimately leads to less waste. Didn’t get a chance to experience it in person? We’re excited to share that you can now revisit ‘In the Making’ through a virtual tour. Follow the link below. tp bennett’s design for insurer Aviva’s London headquarters at EightyFen represents a milestone in the organisation's commitment to fostering a positive workplace. As the original architects of EightyFen, we leveraged our intimate understanding of the building to create a fresh, sustainable and modern environment for Avivas client’s and main hub for its London-based employees. Using the building’s signature light-filled atrium, the design creates visual connection and transparency across the business, focusing energy and attention inwards. Aviva’s various business units have been brought together in one central location, with open plan and agile workplaces, organised in neighbourhoods with an integrated central booking system, and comprehensive smart sensors, to help colleagues plan-ahead and work together. A bespoke sustainability strategy aligned the design brief with Aviva’s #ESG programme, including their climate focused targets. Working closely with the client as well as Hilson Moran, 24 Ltd, Overbury, Arcadis and multiple suppliers, this strategy set 105 environmental and social metrics over the project’s design, construction and operation phases. The project’s achievements included optimisation of operational and embodied carbon, responsible sourcing and specification of circular materials, health and wellness, social value and equality, diversity and inclusivity. As well as sourcing products using ‘AD Lib’, tp bennett’s proprietary responsible sourcing platform, the project achieved one of the most comprehensive embodied carbon calculations for a fit-out on record – with more than 500 products assessed. The workspace is a testament to the evolving landscape of modern offices, where design plays a pivotal role in driving culture and shaping the way people work. Explore the journey behind commercial products at this year’s Material Matters Fair, 18-21 September. We are thrilled to partner with The Furniture Practice to present In The Making, a curated exhibition within Room 12 at Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, during London Design Festival. This exhibition will explore the ever-evolving relationship between materials, geography, people, and supply chains in the commercial sector. Designed and curated by tp bennett’s sustainability team in collaboration with TFP, In The Making examines the intricate details behind products from thirteen commercial furniture and interior brands, revealing the components, materials, and craftsmanship involved. A series of narrative zones will highlight the dedication of both humans and nature in bringing these products to market, encouraging discussions and fostering a deeper appreciation for how these items come to life and how we can value them for years to come. At the heart of the exhibition is a space for reflection and storytelling, which features demonstrations, inspiration sessions, workshops and presentations. Alongside this space is a festival bar created in partnership with Smile Plastics, showcasing the potential of waste materials. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see, learn, and connect with suppliers, makers, and industry friends. Entry to the fair is free for trade, but advance registration is essential, find out more here: https://lnkd.in/e9UH5tt8 Exhibitors include: Arper, Camira x SAS, Florim Ceramiche, Fredericia Furniture, Humanscale, MARK Product | Certified B Corp x Bisley Furniture, Modus | B Corp™, Normann Copenhagen, Solus, Reddie, Smile Plastics, SURU, and Atrium #MaterialMatters #LondonDesignFestival #InTheMaking #DesignExhibition

As architects and designers what does it mean to prioritise holistic sustainability? In this engaging conversation Thomas Krarup (Cobe), Chiara Cozzolino (tp bennett) and Vicki Odili (tp bennett) discuss the impact of our designs both for the people using the spaces we design, and the impact on the planet. They re-imagine the typology of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), with architectural and philosophical ideas and share their thoughts on how to get the best out of opportunities for collaboration, especially in our historic, eclectic and nonhomogeneous capital city of London. tp bennett’s Architecture Part 1 programme provides graduates with a comprehensive experience of life in practice, providing opportunities to immerse themselves in the workings of a fast-paced architectural studio on diverse projects across all work stages. Our programme aims to develop presentation, design and technical skills and includes numerous workshops and events across the year including Part II university selection advice, mentor sessions, model building and competition entries, culminating in a portfolio submission for tp bennett’s bursary award, ensuring graduates are well prepared for their return to university. We are delighted to announce that this year’s bursary winner is Orla Buck. Orla was selected for her active involvement across the practice and her strong model building skills which had developed throughout her placement year. Congratulations also to Poppy Newton and Nursah Selamet, who were both highly commended. We wish you all well in your studies and very much look forward to collaborating with you in the future!
