Our Global Wholesale Director, Cameron Hume (何穆凯) sat down with South China Morning Post SCMP Kandy Wong to discuss how changing travel patterns are reshaping currency exchange. Some insights from Cameron: 🔹 Chinese travellers are moving away from the US and Europe, favouring the Middle East, South-East Asia and Latin America. 🔻 Declining demand for Western currencies: “The US overall probably was about 27% of our volume in 2019. It’s now about 17%.” 📈 Rising demand for Gulf and Southeast Asian currencies as visa policies and economic ties drive more travel to the region. 🚀 Latin America sees triple-digit growth in currency exchanges, reflecting a surge in both tourism and business travel. Cameron shares his insights on what’s driving these shifts and what it means for the future of global FX. Today is World Wildlife Day 🌍🐾 What does wildlife have to do with travel money? The South African Rand has a fascinating history, and its banknotes feature the legendary Big Five animals, each symbolising the country’s rich biodiversity. This year's theme for World Wildlife Day is 'Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet'. The annual event celebrates the importance of animals and plants as well as the benefits they bring to our world. Currency does more than facilitate trade – it tells a story. In South Africa’s case, it reminds us of the value of protecting our natural heritage. Find out more about the South African Rand 👇 #WeAreTravelex #RAD #WorldWildlifeDay
