Last week, our CEO, Johan Neethling, visited Nigeria to assess how our AirBattery can provide a sustainable alternative to diesel generators, aiming to reduce their harmful impacts on local communities. He shared his thoughts on the trip: "I'm incredibly thankful to be part of this initiative to make a difference in Nigerian communities that struggle with unreliable power supply and rely on expensive diesel generators. I want to thank Innovate UK for organising our trip and Mantra Protection Solutions Ltd for keeping us safe and on time during our travels and meetings. I'm really excited about the prospect of ZE-Gen Phase 2—not only for our company and fellow cohort members but for the future of energy innovation and diesel generator replacement as a whole." Our AirBattery solution (https://shorturl.at/snGGm) is designed to support existing renewable energy systems by enhancing power stability in these regions. By eliminating the need for chemicals in energy storage, it's not only simpler and more cost-effective to produce but also experiences no degradation in performance over time. The AirBattery also integrates seamlessly into the circular economy, promoting sustainability at every stage. We're excited about the potential impact this technology can have on maintaining consistent power supplies for essential infrastructure and services.
🌍 Last week the Zero Emission Generators Accelerator Programme’s Ignite activity took place in Lagos, Nigeria. The activity supported 16 innovative businesses that are currently in phase 1 of their ZE-Gen projects and preparing for phase 2, which requires collaboration in country. We had an incredible week engaging with a variety of stakeholders in Nigeria, with highlights including: hearing about the work PAM Africa (Dr. Patrick Agese) and it’s subsidiaries are conducting in the energy space during the inaugural PAM Day; attending Nigeria Energy where James C. hosted a technical seminar during which the 16 businesses had the opportunity to present their projects to a room full of energy stakeholders, followed by a reception hosted by Eauxwell Nigeria Limited for networking; meetings with CEIP | Circular Economy Innovation Partnership, Innov8 Hub, IHS Towers, African Industries Group, Sterling Bank, Nigeria Climate Innovation Center, Oando Clean Energy Limited (Oando Plc), Novastar Ventures, and All On; and visiting Eauxwell Nigeria’s solar power plant at the Federal University Of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Throughout the week the cohort presented their projects/technology and engaged in fruitful discussion with the stakeholders and one another, which was exciting to see ahead of phase 2 of the ZE-Gen programme! Did you know that #landfills are significant sources of #methane, a greenhouse gas with over 25 times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide over a 100-year period? As organic waste like food scraps and paper decomposes in landfills, it generates substantial amounts of methane. Even with gas collection systems, a considerable portion escapes into the atmosphere, contributing to climate change. So why are we not looking towards incineration? Incinerators convert waste into energy by burning it at high temperatures, drastically reducing the waste volume. When combined with carbon capture and storage (CCS) systems, the carbon dioxide produced during incineration is captured and stored, preventing it from entering the atmosphere. Here's why incinerators with carbon capture are a better alternative: 1- Significant Emission Reductions: Incineration with CCS can dramatically lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to landfills. Capturing CO₂ from incineration minimizes the carbon footprint, and unlike methane from landfills, the captured CO₂ doesn't reach the atmosphere. 2- Energy Generation: This process not only manages waste but also generates electricity and heat, providing a renewable energy source and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. 3- Waste Volume Reduction: Incineration reduces the volume of waste by up to 90%, lessening the need for expansive landfill sites and mitigating associated environmental impacts. 4- Resource Recovery: Metals and other materials can be extracted from the incineration ash, promoting recycling and efficient resource use. 5- Land Conservation: Reducing dependence on landfills preserves land for agriculture, wildlife habitats, or urban development. Leading the charge in this innovative field is Tree Associates, a company at the forefront of carbon capture solutions. Their advanced technology efficiently captures carbon dioxide emissions from incinerators, ensuring that the energy produced is cleaner and more sustainable. www.tree-associates.com Adopting incinerators with carbon capture technology, like those from Tree Associates, offers a sustainable path to manage waste and combat climate change. #WasteManagement #Sustainability #CarbonCapture #RenewableEnergy #ClimateAction

Last week saw the closure of the last UK coal power station. This is a huge leap into a clean energy future on the back of the Paris climate agreement set out in 2015. But what does it mean for the energy sector as a whole? With a 315% increase in renewable energy since 2012. How can we keep generating our electrical needs as a growing nation, without compromising on land? At Tree Associates, we've developed the perfect pairing to renewable energy sources. Our team worked tirelessly to develop a system that could compress air using excess energy from renewable sources, store it efficiently, and then release it to generate electricity when needed. The result was our revolutionary AirBattery system. Find out more in the link below of the advantages of the AirBattery and real wo-rld applications. https://lnkd.in/eJFKU2BB #climatechange #renewableenergy #gridapplication #homeenergy #coalpower
