Great to be part of the discussions at the New Era for Female Entrepreneurship in York and North Yorkshire workshop today. As a (very) new business owner it's great to learn from those a little further down the path. Thanks to Carolyn Frank Sam Gardner and 🌟Andrea Morrison🌟 and everyone else who was involved in the organisation. Looking forward to hearing the outcomes of this important research project. #NewEra

The last two weeks since launching have flown, with opportunities to learn and network here in York and with colleagues further afield. Highlights have been the CharityComms Digital Conference, The ReIgnite event at York City Screen highlighting #york's place as a UNESCO City of Media Arts and signing up for the Enterprise Made Simple Ltd Digital Bootcamp in the New Year. There is so much support for new business setting up in York - I've been very grateful to Louise Saw for her regular newsletters and tips. (Photo taken on one of my many walks through the City on a day when it *wasn't* raining).

Day 4: after a great weekend away in Hexham with the Chapter House Choir, it was back to the desk today to continue making connections and working on this new business. Fortunately, being the first Monday of the month, my regular catch up with 🌟Andrea Morrison🌟 and the other brilliant women in our Create Your Dream Business support group was in the diary. As always, this was a great opportunity to reflect on where we are up to, share plans and ideas and hold ourselves and each other accountable for working on our businesses.

Day 3: at the end of a busy week it was good to catch up with Emily Petty’s weekly Clarity and Calm session on Instagram. Emily is an expert at creating space for both individuals and teams to stop and think. I attended a brilliant retreat day she ran earlier this year which was another important milestone in planning my business. Thanks Emily!

Day 2: One of the most helpful steps I took while considering whether to set up my own consultancy was a 360-degree feedback exercise with friends, current and former colleagues and clients. To encourage everyone to be honest, I enlisted the help of the brilliant Alex Lindley of Alchemy Consulting to receive and collate the responses. Alex provided me with a clear summary which has enabled me to shape my plans. I'm really grateful to everyone who took the time to fill in my questionnaire and I would highly recommend the process to anyone thinking of setting out on their own or changing direction. I'd also suggest talking to Alex if you need support with this, or any other HR or organisational development projects.
