AN INVITATION FOR TRINITY ALUMNI - PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE It’s that time of year when the Alumni Team plants metal poppies at the Trinity War Memorial, honouring the 171 former students (and a few Masters) who served and lost their lives in WWI, and the 88 who served and were killed in WWII. The War Memorial looks fantastic all year round, but thanks to the Trinity Grounds staff, Paul, our Head Gardener, and the Porters, it undergoes a magical transformation. They plant cyclamen around the memorial, bringing vibrant colour and life to the setting. The scene is now prepared for Trinity School of John Whitgift Remembrance Day service, and we would like to extend an invitation to our alumni to join the Trinity community of staff and students. Spaces are limited, so please RSVP to Francesca at fnc@trinity.croydon.sch.uk Date: Monday 11 November 2024 Time: 10am – 11.15am Please join us for refreshments from 10am, followed by our special Remembrance Day assembly in the Trinity Concert Hall (Big School). Wreaths will be laid at our War Memorial by the Headmaster, Head Boy, Head Girl, and Chris Great, who will represent the Trinity Club, to honour those who have given their lives in the line of duty. This year, following the service, we would also like to invite you to join us for lunch at The Crown pub - the first round is on us! To ensure we reserve an area large enough, please email Francesca to let us know if you’ll be staying for lunch: fnc@trinity.croydon.sch.uk The Alumni Team at Trinity, along with the Trinity Club, look forward to welcoming you back to the school. MOVEMBER CHARITY REQUEST FROM MR OLLIE HUTCHINGS Who remembers Mr Hutchings, who joined Trinity as a History Teacher in 2014? On 4 November, Mr Hutchings will be bravely letting Ms Lattery-Lee publicly shave off his beard and moustache to raise money for vital cancer charities. Last year, Mr Hutchings was diagnosed with cancer. Now thankfully on the road to recovery, he's determined to give back by raising awareness – and funds – for life-saving men’s cancer research. He's also lacing up his trainers to jog a (challenging!) 60km, commuting to work by foot, to highlight another critical cause: men’s mental health and suicide prevention – something we at Trinity are deeply passionate about. Having had facial hair for 14 years, he knows this isn’t a special talent, but hopes it’s worth a few quid for such important causes. Ready to make a difference? Visit: https://lnkd.in/d5SVH7qC Every donation brings us one step closer to beating cancer and supporting men’s mental health.

We’re thrilled to announce that Trinity has won the Independent School of the Year Award 🏆 for Marketing Communications. Over the past few years, we have been committed to 'bringing the inside out,' giving an honest glimpse into how special life at Trinity feels. The judges praised our approach for placing students at the heart of everything we do, with films and content that are both genuine and full of spirit. A huge thank you to all our students (and a few hesitant staff members!) who helped make this possible. Trinity is truly something special, and it’s our community that makes it so. It’s a real honour to be recognised for that, thank you 💛. Marketing communications is just one part of the picture, and our admissions team work tirelessly to deliver a personal touch to prospective families. They have been increasing weekday tours to allow more people to experience Trinity firsthand, meeting staff and students who are our biggest advocates. Special thanks to our partners — Onthree @TheChainAgency and Matthew Stuart Smith —for understanding, and capturing, the essence of Trinity, and helping us share it effectively with the community and prospects. #TrinitySchool #IndependentSchoolAwards #MarketingCommunications

Exploring Career Pathways: Insights from UBS We were delighted to welcome UBS to deliver a talk to our Economics and Business Society. A special thanks to Trinity alumnus, Kekeli Chen-Kwawu (Class of 2019), from the UBS Graduate Talent Program in Asset Management, and Michael Bharwani from the Group Chief Technology Office for leading the talk, as well as to the UBS team for facilitating the presentation. Kekeli and Michael gave our students an insightful overview of UBS and its Early Careers programmes. As the world’s largest wealth manager, UBS is guided by its 'Three Keys to Success': Pillars, Principles, and Behaviours, which foster a strong and inclusive culture. Michael highlighted UBS’s employee networks, which promote career growth and inclusivity through events and workshops. Kekeli outlined various career pathways, including apprenticeships and internships, and noted that several Trinity alumni have recently started on the UBS graduate program and an industrial placement. Michael also discussed the importance of commercial awareness, the role of AI in the future of work, and the growing value of apprenticeships. Thank you once again to Kekeli, Michael, and UBS. The student feedback demonstrates how much they appreciated hearing from professionals with real-world experience. Caitlin (U6th), President of the Economics & Business Society “I really enjoyed learning about the opportunities at UBS and their many points of entry for both university students and school leavers, whilst also getting an insight into their culture. It was especially interesting to hear Michael and Kekeli respond to questions regarding careers, including those surrounding Kekeli’s progression from an engineering degree to working in finance at UBS. They gave a very comprehensive answer to a query about the impact of AI on the banking sector and financial industry as a whole - how we should be prepared for it and how UBS acknowledges this technological change. I would definitely consider applying to UBS in the future.” James, U6th “I found it very insightful that you don't have to come from a background of finance to end up in the industry. Furthermore, the wide range of apprenticeships and internships that they offer at different stages encouraged me to think more about going into the industry earlier then what I would have initially thought. The most valuable information to me was staying true to your character and being reliable as this will help in any team or any area that you are working in.”

Trinity marks Black History Month with student-led activities To kick off our programme of activities to mark October’s Black History Month, our whole school assembly was led by two members of our African-Caribbean Society (ACS), Semiloore (Upper Sixth) and Tori (Lower Sixth). Using this year’s theme, Reclaiming Narratives, they sought to shift how we view and celebrate Black history and culture by challenging the narratives that have historically marginalised Black achievements, and instead highlighting stories of resilience, success, and empowerment.
