In the spirit of the #UNSDGs, #partnership is the cornerstone of our work at TSL and it was wonderful to have the opportunity this week to finally meet face to face with CEO Omondi Peter and Chair Gareth Davies of our partner Global Youth Forum, who we have known only through Zoom since our partnership began in 2021. During that time we have supported each other, working on TSL and GYF projects and programmes to amplify #youthvoices and #empower youth #action for #sustainability. It was great to be able to meet in person to discuss future plans and opportunities to engage, educate and empower more young people to create a sustainable future as our partnership continues.
Every Cloud has a Silver Lining! And for us it was #Covid19 (don't get us wrong here we know others did not find it easy and still not finding it easy) The pandemic transformed a number of things including the way people work especially in the field of education. It is during this time that as an Organisation we deeply dived into what people and organisations were doing online to keep up with the pase and deliver Educational programmes to the world's population. One of those events attended by our CEO was Trust for Sustainable Living (Climate Justice Summit Seriesl) conducted in July 2022 (Links on the comment) and hosted by Kirsty Shakespeare (International ESD Manager at TSL). After the Summit, we connected with Kirsty to engaged on the work we were doing to get Young people into work and to eradicate poverty in Africa. In 2023 we officially launched a Virtual Pilot of #Moulding4Work programme where 272 candidates expressed interest, 15 were selected for scholarship and 4 are set to graduate from the programme this year (Loads of learning to be use going into the next phase) Kirsty accepted to become a programme trainer delivering two major units. ● 21st Century CV & Cover Letter Writing techniques. ● Job Search, Application and Interview Techniques. Through her support, 3 candidates (SSEMWOGERERE FRANK, Charity Kerubo MERCY N MUINDI & Cheboi Millicent ) secured a 3 months Virtual internship opportunity with the TSL where she acted as their line supervisor guiding them on how to apply the skills gained during the programme into real work environment. On 14th August, The chair of the Board Gareth Davies together with the CEO Omondi Peter paid a visit to TSL (Tour around the The living rain Forest) and met Kirsty who was later joined by the Executive Director of TSL ( Karl Hansen ) to engage on the work we have been doing together and to further enhance future collaboration towards ERADICATING poverty in Africa. It's amazing how one can build meaningful relationships online and turn those relationships into working relationships to transform the world. At GYF we are so proud to be working with TSL to create a better world for our Young People. Thank you Kirsty Shakespeare for all the work you have done to get us to where we are to day. Karl Hansen we say thank you for creating time to meet with our team and for providing a platform for our students to learn and gain skills. We are grateful and looking forward to what we can build next. #Togetherwearestrong #Moulding4Work #OrdinaryVoices #Sports4SDGs #Football4Peace #Archery4TheGoals #GlobalGoals

A theme at today’s Economist sustainability conference in London is the massive skills gap, which is a major obstacle to progress at a time that biodiversity is declining and climate is changing faster than ever before. Panelists today are saying the solution to the education gap will not just come from subject experts and universities, but also smaller organisations and employees who are finding solutions and reinventing systems on the job. #closingtheeducationgap #sustainabilityweek #econsustainability Kirsten Dueck Emily Evans IÉSEG School of Management @Maria Castillo Mark Gough Viviana Alvarez Sanchez Keya Lamba Tom Randell Richard Bampfylde Penny Tomlinson Karl Hansen
