TRUUD brings together experts from a wide range of different disciplines to prioritise health in urban planning.
About us
We're a research project, based at the University of Bristol, looking at how our urban centres can be planned to reduce health inequalities. Bringing together experts from academia, industry and government we will recommend and create new tools and processes for healthier cities. Our project counts the cost of poor health, works with communities to communicate the issues they face and maps out the decision-making process in creating urban centres. We have two active case-studies to test theories in Bristol and Manchester. TRUUD is funded by the UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP). Sign up to our newsletter🔉 https://bit.ly/3JOh2Op

The Planner RTPI asked experts for their thoughts on the government's National Planning Policy Framework consultation for Q70 on supporting healthy communities. Here's how our law academic, Edward Kirton-Darling responded: Daniel Black University of Bristol Law School https://lnkd.in/eVvqC4VZ

Missing tips, tools and evidence to include health in your Local Plan? New guidance, published with Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA), was produced in response to research that found that while Local Plans have the potential to create healthy places, they can be weak and inconsistent on how exactly this can be achieved. Carrie Wood MCIEH CEnvH UKPHR at Surrey County Council was one of seven local authority officers who helped us develop the guidance, "It brings together best practices, offering options to meet diverse district and borough needs and highlights opportunities to integrate health considerations within the Local Plan process.” Link to the guidance in the comments ⬇️ Gemma Hyde Emma Bird Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) Local Government Association UK Faculty of Public Health The Association Of Directors of Public Health (UK) Simon Wicks Royal Society for Public Health
