TEnt MD, Jan Tucker sharing an independent article on the status of Oil & Gas (O&G) investment in Colombia. In summary: FARC Peace negotiations + opportunities from organized crime = a vacuum for other rebel group (ELN) + new & existing splinter criminal groups. Community unrest (Ecopetrol's, Gibraltar Plant & explosion on Bi Centenary pipeline) = growing influence of this group - which could also move into FARC vacuum. Regulatory insecurity (recent Hupecol license rejection). The message seems to be "it ain't over till it's over" & follow due process (including risk analysis) prior to entry.

With very few exceptions, State (or National) Oil companies (NOCs) are just not as efficient as the Private Sector. NOCs are too subject to Government intervention (read interference) and governments are just not as flexible or business/ market focused. In some countries, the NOCs are also a source of easy cash, regardless of long-term impact on The Nation. Mexico seems to be joining Venezuela in this growing club (despite a previous $50 Billion investment). Shame for The Mexican People.

I (along with my ex colleague Dave Burton), have always promoted Nuclear Energy as a stable, reliable, durable infill energy source. I always hoped for a scaled-down version of the reactors we see “nuclear energy on a tabletop”), and now it appears technology is getting us even closer to this goal.
Micro nuclear reactors are being built that can deliver 5MW of power for up to 100 months, producing a staggering 1.2 petawatt-hours of energy
