About us
Tumelo’s mission is to empower shareholder democracy with technology that supports impactful stewardship. Since our inception in 2018, we've dedicated ourselves to developing state-of-the-art investor-voting technologies. Our pass-through voting technology enables institutional and retail investors in pooled funds to vote their shares, offering greater choice and optionality when it comes to voting stewardship. If you were a Microsoft shareholder, how would you vote? I’m putting one powerful lesson from a recent conference into action. Neuroscientist, Kris De Meyer, emphasised that real change happens when people are invited to act. It's action — not words — that truly shifts what we believe. So I invite you to act... With Microsoft’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) approaching on Dec 10th, shareholders have a number of hard-hitting resolutions to consider. I'll put a poll up for each of these resolutions in the coming weeks and invite you to take one moment to read the description and vote as if you were a Microsoft shareholder. Why? At Tumelo, we believe in giving more shareholders a voice, but many are unaware they have one. Proxy voting involves tight deadlines & dense legal jargon: companies grapple with how to present these topics to retail shareholders, while investors struggle to include clients and beneficiaries in their decision-making. Now many managers, including State Street Global Advisors, are empowering investors in their funds to select a voting policy, meaning these questions are relevant to more people than ever before. (See details here: https://lnkd.in/grnaYVAh & this fund contains Microsoft). However, often votes sound as though they are in another language! So, here’s a snapshot of what's coming up, and I’ll include the full details with each poll next week 🚀 Independent report on weapons development with HoloLens 🎯: Microsoft’s $22B contract with the US Army for its HoloLens project raises ethical and reputational concerns. Shareholders want transparency on the risks and export-control issues after reports of potential misuse abroad. Human rights & data centers 🌐: Microsoft’s data centers in high-risk regions like Saudi Arabia are in the spotlight. Shareholders are requesting a report to clarify how the company ensures human rights protections. Bitcoin as a hedge 💹: With inflationary pressures mounting, a proposal suggests Microsoft consider a small Bitcoin allocation to diversify and protect shareholder value. While volatile, Bitcoin has outperformed some traditional assets. Microsoft tech supporting fossil fuels 🛢️: Despite its climate goals, Microsoft’s tech aids oil and gas exploration. Shareholders want clarity on how this aligns with the company’s sustainability vision. Generative AI & misinformation risks 🤖: With the integration of ChatGPT, shareholders are concerned about misinformation. This proposal urges Microsoft to address potential AI risks as new regulations, like the EU’s AI Act, are on the horizon. Ethical data sourcing for AI 🔍: Concerns over data ethics in AI systems and privacy risks are rising. As Microsoft pushes boundaries with OpenAI, shareholders are seeking more information on data collection practices. #MicrosoftAGM #CorporateGovernance #Shareholders #ESG #AI #Sustainability

🚀 We are thrilled to introduce "Tumelo ProxySphere®" — the new name of our pass-through voting product 🚀 In the early stages, because we launched into an entirely new market, we named our product after what it did: “pass-through voting”. But now that pass-through voting is well recognised and fast becoming a must-have for asset owners around the world, it's about time our product had its own name. Hence, introducing... Tumelo ProxySphere® Rest assured, only the name has changed – our product remains as powerful as ever. Check out our updated product page to learn more about Tumelo ProxySphere here: https://lnkd.in/eSrBwKGJ A huge thanks to those of you who gave us feedback on this name — we very much look forward to operating under it.

✨ What an incredible evening! We're all still buzzing from last night’s networking event, which brought together a highly energetic and engaged group of stewardship professionals for drinks overlooking the stunning St Paul's Cathedral. 🌟 Our panel discussion on the “evolution and adoption of pass-through voting” was also truly insightful, expertly led by our very own Georgia Stewart, who - along with Edd Micklem - had just flown in from NYC after hosting a panel at the CII Fall 2024 Conference! 🙏 A massive thank you to our brilliant panelists: Siobhan Archer from LGT Wealth, Mark Johnson from LGIM, and Christopher Timms, CFA from SSGA, for sharing their insights and painting a vivid picture of the trends they’re observing in the industry. It was a night of great conversations, fresh perspectives, and meaningful connections. Here’s to more events like this! #networking #stewardship #passthroughvoting #industryinsights #collaboration

More wealth managers are talking about stewardship. How are the companies within their fund being governed by the fund manager, the wealth manager or even the client themselves. This is how change is made. Maria Costa, MBA Rosa Sangiorgio Harlin Singh Urofsky Jan-Carl Plagge and Troy Mortimer are doing a great job of convincing wealth managers in the audience that conversations about “things they care about” - on top of returns - is THE way to connect better with clients. Duh! And Jan-Carl at Vanguard has found that ESG funds perform differently from their equivalent non-ESG funds because of differences in style factors and industry allocation.. as opposed to an independent orthogonal ESG factor that works in the background. Rosa then makes the point that there’s no point looking at the past…the room is divided!
