🚨 The Procurement Act's go-live date has been delayed - why? 🔎 Yesterday, the Cabinet Office announced that the 2023 Procurement Act's go-live date was to be pushed back from October 28th 2024 to February 24th 2025. 📝 The reason given was to provide the government more time to update the National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS). But what is the NPPS? How might the government update it? 🚨 PROCUREMENT ACT GO-LIVE DATE DELAYED! 🚨 The Cabinet Office has just announced that the 2023 Procurement Act's go-live date will be pushed back. Originally set for October 28th 2024, the Procurement Act will now commence on February 24th 2025 🗓 💬 The Parliamentary Secretary for the Cabinet Office, Georgia Gould MP, explained in a House of Commons statement that the delay is necessary to update the government's National Procurement Policy Statement. The previous government's statement, Gould explained, "does not meet the challenge of applying the full potential of public procurement to deliver value for money, economic growth, and social value." "I have therefore taken the decision to begin the vital work of producing a new National Procurement Policy Statement that clearly sets out this Government's priorities for public procurement", with the delayed go-live date providing time to produce this.
