Broadcasters and media companies adopting AI tools are overwhelmingly focusing on simplifying day-to-day operational tasks and removing drudgework, while using generative AI to make new content is a much lower priority. That's one of the key findings of the first-ever industry-wide research study into the real-world adoption of AI in the media industry, run by Caretta Research in partnership with TVBEurope and TV Tech. The results are revealed as #IBC2024 opens with AI reaching peak interest. It's the very first industry-wide research that cuts through the AI hype and focuses on how broadcasters and media companies are actually using AI tools in their day-to-day operations, and some of other notable findings include: ▶️ Summarising and transcribing (speech to text) is the top use case in content management, already being used by 68% of respondents ▶️ Voice cloning/synthesis are the most adopted AI use cases already in production, deployed by 38% of production respondents ▶️ Automated production of clips and highlights is the AI use case making most impact on workflows ▶️ Overall, 60% of media tech buyers and vendors see AI having most impact on routine operational tasks, and just 17% on complex creative tasks At the same time, media tech buyers are adopting a more cautious approach than their more-bullish vendors, with 35% saying "it's too early to tell" where AI will make most impact. Jump over to TVBEurope for a full analysis of the results of the research. https://lnkd.in/eqHe6Fay

Exclusive: A study of how the media and broadcast industry feels about artificial intelligence (AI) has revealed most media and broadcast companies view its adoption as a positive, while also expressing a “wait and see” approach to its implementation.
