Female Skillshare Collective is a new not-for-profit initiative aimed at creating safe, curious and free spaces for anyone female identifying to learn and share a range of factual TV skillsets. The aim of the collective is to provide a space where women can get hands-on with kit (from cameras to editing software) and have the space and time to explore, build confidence, ask questions and learn from each other in a non-judgemental and fun environment. The idea was born out of the recent stats highlighting the decline in female directors within the industry and the challenges many of us have faced personally being female-identifying in tv. The first session is running on the 20th of Jan in Bristol supported by Visual Impact and was fully booked in first 48 hours after launching. The team are currently working on a range of new sessions for 2024 based on feedback as to what our growing community would like to focus on.
