2025 is going to be a big year for TAPA EMEA as we #celebrate the 25th #anniversary of our Association’s launch in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region. As part of our celebrations, I am delighted to announce we will be hosting our TAPA EMEA 25th Anniversary Annual #Conference at the magnificent CCD Congress Centre in #Dusseldorf on 9 & 10 April 2025. This venue provides us with an amazing conference auditorium plus large, well-equipped networking and #exhibition spaces to allow us to optimise our 2 days together as we prepare to welcome our biggest-ever delegate audience. We are also announcing our Annual Conference location and date now to allow you to book your hotel accommodation and to select from the great choice of hotels close to the CCD Congress Centre. The TAPA APAC Intelligence System (TIS) would like to share with you insights from all reported and captured cargo crime incidents for the month of September 2024. Total losses for September amounted to USD 92,965,930. Counterfeit cases top the incident category at 40%, and deceptive methods at 40% remain the top modus operandi used as shown from our August 2024 report. New data from the #tapaemea Intelligence System (TIS) shows 1,180 cargo thefts recorded from #supplychains in 28 countries in the #Europe #MiddleEast and #Africa region in August. Total loss for the 5.8% of these cargo crimes with a value = €7.7 million. Average loss for major crimes involving goods worth €100K or more = €710,150. New data from the TAPA EMEA Intelligence System (TIS) for July 2024 shows another 1,736 cargo #thefts from #supplychains in 31 countries in the Europe, the Middle East & Africa region and a €16.2 million loss for just the 5% of these #crimes reporting a value. #staytaparized #tapa #supplychainresilience

TAPA EMEA is seeing consistently high levels of recorded #cargo #thefts in #Italy, including 243 new incidents in July. Monthly attacks on #supplychains across the country have been in three figures since February and last month’s incident total represented a 440% increase over the 45 cargo #crimes identified to the #tapaemea Intelligence System (TIS) in January. Italy now has a regular top 5 position in our country league table for cargo thefts in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region. A €3 million #robbery of a cash-in-transit vehicle en route in the city of Brindisi in southern Italy on 4 July was the highest recorded crime in EMEA in July 2024. However, identifying financial #losses for these crimes remains challenging. Only 18 of the 243 incidents in Italy last month shared a loss value with our TIS database, although these alone accounted for a combined loss of more than €9.3 million of goods from supply chains in 31 days. In addition to shipments of cash, other high value targets have included cosmetics, metal, jewellery/precious metals, tools/building materials, and furniture/household appliances. I will be one of the speakers participating in the ‘Pharmaceutical Distribution’ conference in Cologne on 9-10 September to raise more awareness of #security #risks in the #supplychain for #pharma manufacturers, distributors, and #logistics providers. TAPA EMEA’s membership already includes a high number of the world’s leading #pharmaceutical organisations but we believe many more businesses in this sector can benefit from the industry standards, intelligence, training, and networking connections our Association can provide. The potential risk to public health means #cargo #thefts targeting pharma products can have extremely costly and far-reaching impacts. Pharma supply chains are generally extremely resilient because of these risks – but the level of threats from #organisedcrime and others means maintaining the highest levels of risk #intelligence is a vital component to protect the security of #supplychains. On 10 September, I will be presenting an overview of these risks, looking at current #trends, and discussing how TAPA EMEA can help pharma companies and their supply chain partners maintain #supplychainresilience.         I look forward to a very interesting event.
