Results week 2024 has come to an end! 🥳 Here’s a roundup of some of yesterday’s highlights at the UCAS office in Cheltenham: 📡 CEO Dr Jo Saxton, Dave Penney, Courteney Sheppard and Samantha Sykes were off to an early start with live TV and radio interviews, including BBC, ITV Regions, Sky News, LBC and Times Radio. ☎️ We welcomed Minister for Skills Jacqui Smith, and special guests (Hannah Sheehan, Vivienne Stern, Susan Acland-Hood, Professor Edward Peck, Pat Carvalho and Michael Nicholson) for a tour of the building to discover how we run results day, and they were even able to listen in to some applicant calls. 🎉 It was lovely to meet and celebrate with local students from All Saints' Academy, Cheltenham after they collected their results. 🦸♂️ Around 100 of our wonderful UCAS colleagues got stuck in volunteering on the phones to support students during this crucial time. We answered 9,424 calls and made a total of 1,938 replies across our social media channels throughout the day! Massive congratulations to all those who received results yesterday - for those still undecided, take a look at ucas.com to search available courses in Clearing or get in touch for advice and to talk through your options. 💭 #resultsday2024

It’s results day! A record number of disadvantaged students have secured a place at university and college this year.👏 Key findings: -🎓 Overall, we’ve seen a six per cent increase in the number of 18-year-old applicants heading to university or college this September. -📚 The overall number of accepted international students stands at 51,170 -📈 The top three subjects with the largest increase in total placed applicants are engineering and technology (+11% on last year), architecture, building and planning (+9%) and law (+9%). And remember, if you didn’t get the results you hoped for or exceeded your expectations, you can use Clearing to search for a new course!
