Cancer Research UK and NovalGen, a UCLTF portfolio company, have signed an agreement to bring NovalGen’s next-generation T-cell engager, NVG-222, into a first-in-human clinical trial. Under the agreement, Cancer Research UK’s Centre for Drug Development (CDD) will sponsor, design and deliver a Phase 1/2a clinical trial of NVG-222. NovalGen will be responsible for completing the Clinical Trial Authorisation (CTA)-enabling activities. AstronauTx announces the appointments of Dr Jane Rhodes, PhD, MBA as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board, and Magnus Ivarsson as Chief Translation and Early Development Officer.   A neuroscientist by training, Jane brings over 25 years of experience of discovery research, successful strategic clinical development, equity financing and forging significant Pharma partnerships. She has contributed to the development and launch of several marketed products for neurological indications over the span of her career   Magnus is a seasoned drug developer with over 20 years of experience in the global pharma and biotech industries. He has held a range of senior research leadership roles, with responsibilities ranging from early discovery, translation and early clinical development for both small molecules and biologics with a focus on sleep, EEG and neurodegeneration.   Tim Edwards, Chairman, said: “Jane has a strong track record of company formation, successful equity financing and forging large enabling Pharma partnerships, all of which will be invaluable in our next phase of growth. UCL spinout Gaussion secures $12m to revolutionise battery charging 🙌🔋 Charging speed remains a significant hurdle to overcome in the mass market adoption of passenger and commercial electric vehicles (EVs). Gaussion has developed a novel solution that radically enhances battery performance using an external magnetic field during charge and discharge cycles to enable rapid charging by steering ions within existing battery cells. Investors see Gaussion’s technology as truly groundbreaking and are fueling the company’s efforts with a $12M capital raise. The Series A round was led by Autotech Ventures and supported by existing investors BGF and UCL Technology Fund. We are delighted to announce that EpilepsyGTx, a biotechnology company focused on research and development of cutting-edge gene therapies to treat focal refractory epilepsy, has raised a total of $10 million seed. The funding round was led by the UCL Technology Fund, with participation from HTH and will allow the company to complete the preclinical studies for EpilepsyGTx’ lead gene therapy program EPY201, and to prepare a groundbreaking first-in-human, Phase 1/2a clinical study with EPY201 in focal refractory epilepsy.
