🖊 Our Director Anand Menon has written a piece for Tortoise Media reflecting on racism in the UK. ⏰ As it mentions, on Tuesday we're launching our landmark report with Focaldata on the political and social attitudes of Britain's ethnic minority voters. Report authors Sophie Stowers, James Kanagasooriam, and Zain Mohyuddin look at the diversity of political opinion, social values and economic preferences not just between Britain’s white and non-white population, but between different ethnic and religious groups.
I wrote quite a personal piece about racism. Have a read… https://lnkd.in/evEygaiQ

🚨 New report alert: Westminster Rules? The United Kingdom Internal Market Act and Devolution 🚨 As we mark the 25th anniversary of devolution in the Scotland, our latest report explores one of the most controversial pieces of legislation affecting devolved governments: the United Kingdom Internal Market Act (UKIMA). Enacted in 2020, UKIMA aimed to secure frictionless trade within the UK post-Brexit but has raised concerns about limiting devolved powers in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. With the new Labour Government signalling a “reset” in relations with the devolved administrations, this report highlights: ✅ The tensions created by UKIMA and its operational impacts. ✅ Options for reform to rebuild trust and cooperation between the UK and devolved governments. ✅ Practical solutions to restore balance between business mobility and devolved policy innovation. If you're interested in devolution, intergovernmental relations, and policy reform, we invite you to explore the full report here: https://lnkd.in/ebHhh6nH Authored by Dr Coree Brown Swan, University of Stirling, Prof. Thomas Horsley, University of Liverpool, Prof. Nicola McEwen, University of Glasgow, College of Social Sciences and Dr Lisa Claire Whitten, Queen's University Belfast. The report is part of the Centre’s Devolution @ 25 work, which has included policy labs, blogs and engagement with key stakeholders. In keeping with the values and purpose of the CPP, it offers research-informed reflections and constructive ways forward on constitutional and policy issues that are complex, tricky and often polarising. The research that underpins this report was funded by the ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council and UK in a Changing Europe. #UKDevolution #UKIMA #PublicPolicy #IntergovernmentalRelations #PolicyReform #Brexit #CentreForPublicPolicy

Fantastic event hosted in partnership with UK in a Changing Europe and Rupa Huq MP at #LabourPartyConference. 💡 We trailed insights from our upcoming report on ethnic minority Britons, including detailed analysis of the growing splintering of the 'bloc' minority vote. As Anand Menon put it, "One of the key takeaways from this is we need to dig into the idea of an ethnic minority voter, because there are lots different groups going in different directions". The report will be available from October 8th. #research #socialattitudes

Disappointing to hear that UK in a Changing Europe is coming to an end. Anand Menon & Jill Rutter wrote a nice piece about their approach to impact a few years back, it will be a shame to lose it. #SocialScience #PolSci #ResearchImpact
