The UK India Business Council (UKIBC) is deeply saddened by the passing of Shri Ratan Tata, a visionary business leader, philanthropist, and an extraordinary human being. Shri Ratan Tata’s influence extended well beyond the corporate world. He was a beacon of integrity, humility, and compassion, and his efforts touched countless lives. Whether through his unwavering commitment to social progress, his pioneering work in industries that shaped modern India, or his relentless advocacy for causes such as education, healthcare, and animal welfare, his contributions were monumental and enduring. In recognition of his exceptional achievements and service, Shri Ratan Tata was awarded some of the highest civilian honors in both India and the UK. He was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan in India, and in 2014, Queen Elizabeth II conferred upon him the Knight Grand Cross—one of Britain’s highest civilian honors—five years after he had received the Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE). These accolades reflect the profound impact he had on industries and communities across borders. Richard Heald, OBE, Chair of UKIBC, said: “Shri Ratan Tata uniquely combined business insight with an innovative mindset, an infectious curiosity, and a dedication to making a positive difference in the world. His commitment and passion live on within the Tata Group and the broader Indian business community.”   Richard McCallum, Group CEO of UKIBC, reflected on his impact: "Ratan Tata leaves an unparalleled legacy. He touched the lives of so many in India and around the world, and his work and example will inspire generations to come.” Ratan Tata’s life reminds us all that business, at its best, is not just a driver of economic success, but a force for good, bringing progress, compassion, and positive change to the world. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with his family, friends, and the millions who admired him during this difficult time.

A historic milestone for @Pernod Ricard India! We had the privilege of coming together in Butibori, Nagpur, for the Bhoomi Pujan (ground breaking ceremony) of what will soon be Asia’s largest malt spirit and maturation facility. This state-of-the-art distillery, with a production capacity of 13 million liters annually, is a symbol of our unwavering belief in India’s role as a leader in the global spirits industry. This project is much more than just infrastructure. It’s about making a positive impact on the local economy, generating 700-800 direct and indirect jobs, and providing farmers with fresh opportunities through high-quality barley cultivation. 🌾 It’s about empowering communities and paving the way for sustainable growth. 🌱 Designed to run on 100% renewable energy and be water-positive, this facility is a testament to our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsible business practices.
