Thank you Dame Caroline Dinenage MP DBE for highlighting the importance of the VFX tax relief and pushing for a commitment and clarification around its implementation and timescale. We look forward to hearing more from the Chancellor at the forthcoming budget. #VFX #visualeffects #taxrelief #budget #creativeindustries
🎬 A bit worried that Leader of the House of Commons didn’t directly commit to delivering these vital new tax relief measures, which were announced at the Spring Budget. I’ll keep pushing on this! UK Screen Alliance British Film Institute (BFI) Department for Culture, Media and Sport

#IndustryNews: UK Screen Alliance and the British Film Institute (BFI) have kickstarted a new version of the Core Skills of VFX Handbook and the VFX Student Primer, and we need industry practitioners to give their advice on this essential training source. Read more below.
Former Dean/Director of Industry Engagement now building new education to industry pathways globally
Great news for VFX Educators! UK Screen Alliance and the British Film Institute (BFI) have kickstarted a new version of the Core Skills of VFX Handbook and the VFX Student Primer, and we need industry practitioners to give their advice. The Core Skills of VFX handbooks were free resources released in 2016, the voice of industry, helping tutors to design contemporary and industry quality courses, and students to develop the aptitudes and behaviours they needed to gain a career in VFX. Last released in 2016, a lot has changed in VFX practice, and this year I decided the time was right to create a new edition, self-funded, but work was pretty slow. Now the UK Screen Alliance has come on board in partnership with Animation UK and the British Film Institute (BFI) through the Metro London Skills Cluster, supporting a new development of this essential training source. Things can now ramp up! The first step will be a series of focus groups with VFX industry reps to discuss the skills that are needed to be taught in Further and Higher Education. If you work in the industry and want to attend one of these focus groups please get in touch, we need industry practitioners of all types for this to work! The first focus group will be in the autumn. Credits: The BFI's Metro London Skills Cluster Supported by National Lottery Fund is led by Film London and the National Film & Television School (NFTS). UK Screen Alliance in partnership with Animation UK are the voice for over 170 companies across the UK in Post Production, VFX, Animation, TV and Film Studios and Production services.
