Today, we're thrilled to announce our first ever award of phase two funding to a #CancerGrandChallenges team. Members of team IMAXT, who took on our 3D tumour mapping challenge, will receive £5.25m from Cancer Research UK (CRUK), with additional support by the UK Space Agency, to establish a Spatial Profiling and Annotation Centre of Excellence (SPACE). The centre will open up IMAXT’s cutting-edge spatial biology platform, and be led out of University of Cambridge by Professor Greg Hannon and Dr Dario Bressan (Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute) and Dr Nicholas Walton (Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge). Orange Tree Partnership Limited is pleased to announce the launch of its new mentoring programme at this year’s Space-Comm Expo in Glasgow! Lift Off – Stay Grounded (www.losg.co.uk) aims to tackle the ongoing skills gap in the current space sector, creating a pipeline of skilled and empowered undergraduates to fulfil required skills in the sector. The programme will guide undergraduates in their third or final year to navigate and develop essential personal and professional skills such as leadership, coaching and entrepreneurial skills for a career in the sector. Partnering our mentees with industry trained mentors for one-to-one support, creating opportunities to attend space networking events and explore connections in the industry over the course of twelve months. Volunteer industry mentors will receive professional training while students will have no self-study requirements.
