Yesterday in the House of Commons, Secretary of State for DCMS, Lisa Nandy, emphasised the urgent need to address the alarming cuts to youth services, describing them as a "national shame." She underscored the importance of developing a National Youth Strategy, which she believes is a vital step toward ensuring support for young people across the country. Nandy stated, “We are absolutely determined to grip this issue... there is no strategy for youth in Government at all. We are determined to set that right.” This is a pivotal moment for our young people, and we at UK Youth welcome this commitment. We urge the government to allocate meaningful resources in the upcoming budget to ensure this strategy translates into real support for youth services across the country. 🔗 Read more on our Blog: https://lnkd.in/gt7v6BUN or watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/e63B2ArG

This #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re proud to celebrate Reclaiming Narratives — a powerful movement that honours the remarkable contributions of Black people throughout history. As part of our Young Changemakers programme, young Black and Black mixed-race women from Getaway Girls Leeds have been making waves with their inspiring social action project, #MyHairStory. Through this initiative, they celebrate the beauty and diversity of Black hair, empowering others to embrace their uniqueness. This Black History Month, they share a heartfelt message to young people everywhere —encouraging self-love, confidence, and strength. Watch now to hear their inspiring words and join us in celebrating these incredible young people as they continue to #ReclaimingNarratives 🖤 Young Changemakers is a collaboration between UK Youth, The Diana Award and the Centre for Mental Health, funded by the players of the People's Postcode Lottery and Comic Relief.
