Feeding pets the right amount is just as important as choosing the right food. According to our latest report; 63% of pet owners follow feeding guidelines, but 18% don’t weigh out their pet’s food. Accurately weighing food, especially using digital scales, is crucial to ensure pets get the nutrition they need while maintaining a healthy weight. As veterinary nurse Joy Shutt explains: “Feeding cups should only be used alongside digital weighing scales, as studies show they often lead to overfeeding.” 🟡UK Pet Food’s Commitment 2: Provide guidance on interpreting feeding guidelines, emphasising the importance of digital scales, and adjusting for accurate portions. We were thrilled to be hosted at Portcullis House yesterday for a two-hour drop-in session, kindly hosted by Sir Roger Gale. It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce ourselves and our industry to new MPs while presenting our Obesity Report. Twelve MPs and two staffers attended, with whom we discussed the key components of our manifesto, including raising awareness about the critical issue of pet obesity. By engaging with policymakers, we hope to keep awareness of UK Pet Food as their partner on vital topics such as the health and well-being of pets across the UK. Thanks to all who attended and signed our Pledge Board, highlighting their dedication to supporting the well-being of the nation’s pets. #petsinsociety #petobesity #UKPetFood Peter Prinsley MPSharon HodgsonSeamus LoganSteve WitherdenJack Abbott Roger Gale MPRichard Baker Jas AthwalPaul Kohler Iqbal Mohamed Rachel Gilmour Shockat Adam Ruth JonesNicole PaleySarah HormoziMichael B.Donna Holland
