🚨 Rebrand with Global Superstar Claxon! 🚨 Today marks the launch of the new Masterbrand U, which sees our free streaming service transition to U and free-to-air channels become U&Dave, U&W, U&DRAMA and U&YESTERDAY. To kick off the launch, we’ve teamed up with legendary singer Cher for an advert that celebrates the wealth of free quality content on U, as part of an extensive multi-media campaign developed in partnership with Havas Entertainment, representing UKTV’s biggest ever campaign spend. The advert promises viewers “whatever you want to watch, we’ve got U”, and sees the global superstar travelling through some of Britain’s best-loved shows on U, performing a new rendition of the iconic song, I Got You Babe, which was recorded especially for the launch of U.     UKTV’s in-house creative team worked in partnership with HunkyDory Films to create the TV advert, and with global brand consultancy Wolff Olins to develop the design system for the new U visual identity. A huge thank you to everyone in our teams from across the business and our partners who have worked so tirelessly on bringing the U Masterbrand to life, uniting our family of free-to-air channels and our free streaming service. #WeveGotU #UKTV #rebrand #Cher #Ulaunch #bbcstudios #wegotu #launch #streamfree #UStream https://lnkd.in/eqxSWmvU

When I joined UKTV nearly two years ago, our brands were already well loved and growing. But, as we transition to a digital future, ensuring the long-term health of our VOD player was crucial. With less than 50% of our audience knowing where to catch up on our content, we needed a strategy that connected all our brands without overshadowing them. Our solution? U. Drawing from our UKTV heritage, we moved beyond the limiting elements and retained what truly matters: our audience, the 'U'. Our team created over 19,500 assets to rebrand our free-to-air channels, FAST channels, and VOD player. Today, we proudly unveil the culmination of this work with UKTV’s biggest campaign ever. To support the launch, we partnered with the legendary Cher for an advert that celebrates the wealth of free quality content on the U streaming service. This is backed by extensive campaigns across OOH, social media, radio, and more. I couldn’t be prouder of the team for executing this monumental campaign. There are so many people to credit, not least the incredible UKTV team, so I am hoping I haven't missed anyone: Creative: UKTV Creative Media: Havas Entertainment Brand Design and Strategy: Wolff Olins TVC Creative Agency: UKTV Creative Creative Director: Scott Russell Creative consultant:Eoin Mclaughlin Senior Producer: Leanne Farleigh Assistant Producer: Olivia Watters Head of Production: Mary Claire Seiler Head of Design: Peter Allinson Project Manager: Charlie Eydmann Production Partner: HunkyDory  Director: Christian Bevilacqua Exec Prod: John Doris Producer: Stephen Plesniak Prod Manager: Lisa Lake Prod Co-ord: Rhian Boughtwood Director of Photography: Ian Murray and Edd Lukas Post Production: HunkyDory / Al Sinclair VFX: Christian Bevilacqua/ HunkyDory  Head of Social Media: Georgia Quantrell Cousins Social Media Creative : Adam Davies Chief Marketing Officer: Penny Brough Marketing Director: Nick Gilmer Head of Marketing: Jo Earthy Marketing Manager: Cheryl Vaz Head of Consumer Communications: Charlotte Scott OOH: Head of Design: Peter Allinson Design Producer: Sophie Bryant Designers: Rachel Shearman and Tom Webster Copywriter: Scott Russell / Paul Philphott Creative studio: MMMultiply

It was a great evening for W at the Broadcast (MBI) Digital Awards 2024 last night, where the channel was named Best Entertainment Channel fending off stiff competition including from E4 and our very own UKTV Play. The judges praised W’s commitment to authentic and powerful storytelling, sharing personal experiences from under-represented groups, and celebrated W “as being a channel with a clear proposition that delivers for its viewers”, attracting big talent like Katherine Ryan, Stacey Dooley, Emma Willis and Katie Piper. With a brilliant programme slate of new and returning series, it’s a hugely exciting time for W as we prepare to rebrand the channel to U&W as part of the launch of the new U Masterbrand, uniting our family of free-to-air channels and our free streaming service. A massive thanks and congratulations to W Channel Director Adam Collings and everyone who works on W across the UKTV business and continues to support its on-going success. We could not be prouder of this recognition for your brilliant work. Congratulations also to all our UKTV nominees at last night’s awards: UKTV Play for Best Entertainment Channel; Yesterday for Best Factual Channel; Gold for Channel of the Year (Non-PSB Group); Big Zuu’s Big Eats, Boom & Big Productions for Dave and Katie Piper’s Jailhouse Mums, Flicker Productions for W, both in the category of Best Popular Factual; Sister Boniface Mysteries, BBC Studios for Drama in the category of Best Programme Acquisition; and The Marlow Murder Club, Monumental Television for Drama in the category of Gamechanger Programme of the Year.   Thank you Broadcast (MBI) for a great night celebrating the UK’s digital content, creators and channels, and congratulations to all the winners and nominees. #broadcastdigitalawards #awards #bestentertainmentchannel #uktv #w
