Are you ready to unlock your potential faster? In today’s fast-moving world, Penny Zenker’s "Reset Mindset" is all about staying adaptable and focused. Unlike a “Growth Mindset,” which encourages persistence, the Reset Mindset is built around real-time learning and quick adjustments. 🔹 Facing a tricky project or tough conversation? Take a “Reset Moment” to refocus on solutions. It can turn challenges into positive outcomes and improve teamwork. 🔹 COVID-19 reminded us how crucial agility is—companies that adapted thrived, while those that clung to “normal” struggled. 🔹Leaders can set a great example by using “reset moments” regularly, like check-ins and reflections, to build a culture that’s strong, flexible, and ready for change. Zenker’s advice? Practise resetting consistently, just like Bruce Lee’s focus on mastering one move. The more you do it, the more resilient you become. Has language censorship changed how we communicate—both online and in everyday life? TikTok’s censorship has led to a whole new set of euphemisms like “seggs” for sex and “unalive” for death. What’s interesting is how these terms are now being used outside of the platform, highlighting how censorship shapes language. Some key takeaways for workplace communication: 🔹 Just as TikTok users adjust their words to avoid censorship, professionals need to stay aware of how language evolves to ensure clarity and inclusivity. 🔹 Avoiding sensitive words can lead to confusion. In the workplace, it’s important to strike a balance between being clear and respectful. Is brainstorming really working for your team? Research shows traditional brainstorming is broken. Here’s why: ❎Social loafing: People assume others will pick up the slack, so they contribute less. ❎Social anxiety: Fear of looking foolish holds people back. ❎Regression to the mean: Talented individuals often lower their performance to match others. ❎Production blocking: Larger groups limit the number of ideas shared effectively Instead, try these creative methods: ✅Question-storming: Focus on asking questions to explore the problem from new angles. ✅Brain-writing: Generate ideas individually before sharing and building on them. At Understood, we love using these approaches to get more thoughtful, creative results. Find out more here from this brilliant article by The Writer (btw their Style Guide is our go-to for all our grammatical quandaries!): https://lnkd.in/ejXT22My #BetterBrainstorming #Teamwork #CreativeSolutions #Collaboration

Do you put your customer first? So many businesses will believe that they do, only to find out once we've had a conversation that there are areas where the customer has never been thought about. However, this is a surefire way to miss out on an opportunity to improve your customer-centricity. Understood helps you to find that gap in your strategy, and together, we can map out the best way to prove to your customers that they're number 1. Here's how: https://heyor.ca/cdUf7V #Understood #CustomerCentricity #CustomerService #CustomerExperience

Do you ever find yourself holding back in meetings or struggling to speak up? I know I’ve definitely been there, especially in big group settings. The longer you wait to contribute, the harder it feels to jump in! That's why I was drawn to the article "Afraid of rejection and humiliation? Here's how to take up space with confidence". Here are some strategies that really resonated: 🔹 Most people are too focused on themselves to notice us. 🔹 Being prepared makes a world of difference. 🔹 Small wins, like making a call instead of emailing, help build resilience. At Understood, we get that not everyone is confident sharing ideas in large groups. We create supportive environments with small group discussions, helping individuals find the confidence to contribute in their own way. Last night, I saw Dr. Louise Newson in Bristol delivering Hormones & Menopause: The Great Debate. Leaving aside any thoughts on Newson and the recent Panorama investigation, I think there are a few things we can learn (and improve) around audience/learner engagement and communication. 🧠 Information overload – Dr. Newson had a lot to say: science, history, anecdotes, advice, slides, plus a stand-up comedian popping in to lighten the mood. But for my foggy perimenopausal brain, it was sometimes all a bit too much. Simplicity is key. When you're passionate about a topic (as Newson clearly is), it’s easy to overwhelm an audience with too much at once. ⚡ Rapid delivery – It felt like a lecture on '1.5x speed'. I'm no fan of slow speakers, but this was often too quick to take in. ❓ Rushed Q&A – We submitted questions during the interval, but Dr. Newson raced through them in the final minutes. Big questions were brushed off, and the human touch was lost. I’d have preferred more time for human to human interaction and less on history. And despite the title "The Great Debate", it wasn’t actually a debate at all—it was one person giving their views. A debate would have made it much more interactive and engaging. So, what did I learn? Less can be more. Keep it simple, pace yourself, and add that personal touch to truly engage an audience. Have you seen a show and learnt anything (good or bad) about presenting or communicating with an audience? https://lnkd.in/e28cZZpP #MenopauseMatters #AudienceEngagement #CommunicationSkills #PublicSpeaking #KeepItSimple #LearningFromExperience #EventReview #WomenInHealth #Perimenopause #DrLouiseNewson
