While both aim to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, they take different approaches and offer unique benefits.  🌱 Carbon Offsetting helps companies act by compensating for emissions outside their value chain. Through verified projects like reforestation or renewable energy, companies can balance emissions while planning longer-term sustainability efforts. 🔄 Carbon Insetting, on the other hand, works within a company’s value chain, embedding sustainability into operations. This approach delivers lasting environmental benefits and strengthens business resilience by addressing emissions directly. Enhanced rock weathering (ERW) is a science-backed approach that combines climate action with soil health benefits. Recent trials, including those highlighted in Scientific American, show how finely crushed silicate rock can transform agricultural practices. It’s wonderful to see Kirstine Skov, UNDO’s Research Lead, mentioned, touching on her peer-reviewed agronomy trials with Newcastle University (more on this in the link below). Last year, Lucy Jones, one of our field technicians, took on a bold challenge: helping to launch UNDO’s Canadian operations in Kingston, Ontario 🇨🇦 – the foundation of our largest deal with Microsoft. This project focused on advancing the science of enhanced rock weathering (ERW). From monitoring CO₂ fluxes and soil chemistry to setting up state-of-the-art labs like the “Carbon Lab” and the “Dracula Lab,” Lucy and the team collected vital data to support the scaling of ERW as a climate solution. Farmers are driving climate action. In partnership with Canadian Wollastonite, we’re using enhanced rock weathering (ERW) to remove CO₂ and improve soils on Ontario farms.
