A programme that encourages hospital patients to get out and about in nature 🌳is helping their wellbeing 💚and could save the NHS in treatment costs, health experts believe. This BBC news article features Professor Ruth Garside, from our University of Exeter Medical School, who has been evaluating the mental health impact of nature-based social prescribing. 📰Read the BBC news article: https://brnw.ch/21wOc8P 📖Hear from more from Ruth in our 2021 Alumni Magazine: https://brnw.ch/21wOc8Q

Our Success for All Fund exists to help students who face financial difficulties, such as high rents, who may also be forced to work long hours each week just to make ends meet. This then creates additional strain as they attempt to balance this with studying, attending lectures and the other positive opportunities afforded by university life. Did you know that with the generous support of our alumni community alongside direct contributions from the University, we’ve provided hardship grants to 1,706 students over the last 12 months? One recipient of the Fund commented, “I cannot express how grateful I am for this support, and it will really aid me in my final months of university. I can’t imagine how I would have got by otherwise.” 📖Read more about the programme, and, if you're able to, make a contribution to help a student who is struggling via our website: https://brnw.ch/21wNZkq Thank you. 🙏

Alumnus Pete Laverick (Business & Managerial Economics in 2017) has recently published his first podcast with Hong Kong’s Olympic swimming hero, Siobhán Haughey, who won four medals (two silver🥈 and two bronze🥉) at the recent Paris Olympics this summer and the previous Olympics in Tokyo. Pete is an ex-professional athlete living a pretty normal life in Hong Kong and he started his 'Abnormal' podcast to talk to those many of us view as 'abnormal' or having achieved abnormal things and find out what made them take that first step outside of their comfort zone. 💻Take a look: https://brnw.ch/21wNXiP 🎧Listen to the podcast: https://brnw.ch/21wNXiO
