We listen to what you have to say, we look for pain points and areas we can improve your business processes and workflows. Only when we have identified these areas do we start to focus on what technology will solve the problem. Because we are supplier agnostic, we aren't limited to specific suppliers or hampered by agreements with IT companies. We will investigate, interrogate and probe and only when we are happy will we introduce you to the suppliers we have chosen. It is then down to you to pick who you like and who best fits your needs, wants and requirements and who will come in on budget. Once a project is finished, you will have full training and the ongoing support will be turned over to you, unless you specifically want us to stay engaged. Our #managingdirector's thoughts on the latest cyber security issues in the nuclear industry

A lot of people have sent me the The Guardian and Daily Mail News articles on this (Daily mail just reporting the Guardian). Having watched the video associated with the Guardian's article it was difficult to unpick issues of #cyber security, nuclear #safety and the long legacy of the weapons programme and the cold war. Whether you're critical national infrastructure, a small business or simply at home - we are all under attack all of the time. This usually isn't someone purposely coming after you individually but more like a fishing trawler casting a wide net with automated scanning for vulnerabilities. Once a vulnerability is found it is usually logged for the hacker to investigate later or further automated attempts. That's why us #cybersecurity types like me always bang on about staying up to date. State sponsored attacks do happen but are rare. But the truth is we are all under attack from all over the world all of the time. Successful attempts or useful attempts in terms of data exfiltration are even more rare. Most like the 2017 NHS Cyber Attack are more disruptive than anything else. In the #InfoSec trinity - #Confidentiality, #Availability and #Integrity - Availability and Integrity (by the encryption of files) were impacted at the NHS. Confidentiality was maintained. It was still a cyber attack, but the first thing people think of is a hacker gaining access. In terms of protecting critical infrastructure whether this is gas, electric, water or #nuclear there's a simple solution - you don't put control systems online! Which is best practice through most industries. Similarly protected information as any #iso27001 buff will tell you is categorised and dealt with according to rules around that category, and that may just mean offline or air-gapped copies only. It will be interesting to see if this story develops but the Guardian's video just seemed to be having a pop at the industry and #Sellafield in particular for having a legacy to deal with. Even the transport flask train crash testing in the 70s/80s made it into it. It lost a lot of credibility in my eyes trying to conflate cyber with other risks. Many of which were put to bed years ago. Without detail, it's very difficult to understand what's happened and the industry say they haven't been supplied any. I am left wondering if the sources came from The Bridge Inn, Santon Bridge in November... #Cumbrian's will get the reference 😉 but for those who don't, it's where the Worlds Biggest Liar competition is held... Cumbrian's are famous for our tall tales and wind-ups, someone's having a good chuckle at a Southern journalist...
