A poignant and thought-provoking urbanest Communities session yesterday on ‘Balancing Family and Career’. HR Consultant and author Debra Corey spoke about what balance looks like and 14 steps to master the art of balance. Facilitated by our Learning & Development partner Bridget Stanley, we also heard from a panel of our very own urbanest colleagues; Cameron Regis (Talent Acquisition & Engagement Partner), Cathy Ramsden (Group Tax Manager), and Joanne Mckenzie (Customer Support Assistant) on their personal balance journeys, and some top tips for us all moving forwards. A deeply engaging event on a topic that affects our own individual wellbeing in different ways. We recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebrating our fundraising efforts for Battersea. Our Rising Talent Group raised an incredible £8,276 for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home by walking 22 miles across London and stopping at each of our sites, including urbanest Canary Wharf, our tenth and biggest property, currently under construction. This week we had the opportunity to meet the incredible team at Battersea for a fundraiser tour, across the road from the newly opened urbanest Battersea. It was great to see the facilities and hear more about the brilliant work being done by the entire Battersea team. Thank you to everyone who donated!

An extremely proud moment for us all at urbanest, celebrating being finalists for the Collaboration Award at the Student Accommodation Awards 2024 alongside King's College London! We are honoured to work alongside KCL, supporting growth of their student numbers each year and delivering a unique postgraduate accommodation offer through the GradPlus programme. This weekend marked the end of another fantastic turnaround period, during which we welcomed over 4,500 new students across our nine London communities. It’s always exciting to meet our new residents as we strive to actively enhance and support their university experience. The below video offers an insight into check-in day at urbanest Westminster Bridge for The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), while we were also delighted to welcome UCL students to urbanest King’s Cross and urbanest St Pancras on Saturday. A big shout out to our amazing teams for their hard work during this period. We know moving in can be a difficult and daunting time, so our site teams are on hand 24/7 to provide support to our new and returning residents. An exciting time for us over the weekend as we opened the doors and welcomed the first ever residents to urbanest Battersea! A brand-new building overlooking the iconic chimneys of Battersea Power Station, urbanest Battersea brings over 850 new student beds to London and provides sector leading energy-efficient student accommodation. Well done to the project and site team on delivering a truly remarkable building that we are proud to open to our residents. It's been wonderful welcoming students from King's College London and other London universities over the weekend, and we look forward to supporting their time in London! Marking a key milestone at our urbanest Canary Wharf development on Trafalgar Way. On Thursday we celebrated topping out the smallest of our three towers, standing at 28 storeys, 25 months after breaking ground on the project. When complete, urbanest Canary Wharf will consist of 28, 46 and 36 storey towers rising from a four-storey podium. Targeting Passivhaus certification, the development will provide 1,672 student beds, 80 residential units, and both commercial and retail space. Plenty of progress still to be made, but this marks the half way point in the project. We look forward to topping out the remaining two, taller towers in 2025. Building on our strong existing ESG commitments, we're excited to announce a new partnership with JLL UK to deliver a comprehensive sustainability strategy. The collaboration will see us working with JLL through a two-phase project that will establish robust ESG reporting requirements and devise a sustainability roadmap. We're thrilled to be working with the JLL team, and look forward to actioning their recommendations, furthering our momentum towards creating sustainable student accommodation across London.
