#DevelopConf is happening between 9th to 11th July 2024, and I am happy to say #RaiseTheGame has an activity for each day of the conference: - On Tuesday 9th July, we have the Festival Of Food Evening (FOFE) sponsored by ustwo games & Jagex - https://lu.ma/evgeywyd The event sold out in an hour & 15minutes after the sign-up page went LIVE 😅 Luckily we do have the waitlist enabled, in case any drop-outs or we get more space available because we want as many people to come as reasonably possible. FOFE not only works as a mid-year celebration for the initiative, yet it also where we put into place all our learnings to create an inclusive, welcoming event for all; especially needed for the year we're having as an industry thus far 💖 - On Wednesday 10th July, we have our conference roundtable called No More Boom and Bust: How to Empower Inclusive, Sustainable Businesses, which will explore the benefits, challenges & importance of business sustainability and embedding inclusive practices as strategic components to the livelihood of a games company and the wider industry ecosystem 🎮 - On Thursday 11th July, we have Leadership Breakfast sponsored by Fresh Seed & GG Insurance Services - https://lu.ma/41o0o1bm After all the Wednesday shenanigans, we want to host a causal networking event with plenty of Breakfast available 😁 We have a priority on inviting leaders and managers as we want to emphasis the importance on how decision makers need to reflect on the landscape of the industry currently with a direction, a vision for a healthier games industry and wider ecosystem going forward. Yet this doesn't mean those who are not leaders now or want to become managers one day are not welcome 😉 The key messaging for #RaiseTheGame this year at Develop:Brighton, is to ensure EDI is not an afterthought or a separate component to a company. On the contrary, it is vital to embed, prioritise and overlay across departments in all companies regardless size and budget for strategic planning, long-term growth, and business sustainability. Cultures of companies are built by people, and if people are the first priority then policies and processes can be made to uplift talent, life/work balance can bloom, and we can welcome people across different walks of life more accessibly 🎉 #RaiseTheGame will continue the momentum we've already established and keep growing ✨ In-between these activities, you likely see me hovering around, so please do come say Hi 😊 Whether you want to get involved in #RaiseTheGame, chat further about EDI/CSR/just about anything games industry related, and/or geek out about pop culture, anime and more with me. The industry layoffs have been incredibly upsetting. Outside of our usual free careers talks, events and wider programme work, we've been trying to find other ways to help.
