Important Tax Update for Irish Businesses ❗️ The recent Supreme Court case of ‘Revenue Commissioners v Karshan (Midlands) Ltd. t/a Domino’s Pizza’ has significant implications for the ‘gig’ economy. Employers in the ‘gig’ economy will have to evaluate their current arrangements and ensure compliance with their treatment of workers as employees versus independent contractors. This ruling, focusing on ‘mutual obligations’ and the nature of service contracts, impacts taxation, social insurance, and also brings to the fore the obligations in terms of employment rights and equality and the legislative acts that govern these responsibilities as an employer.
