Celebrating our 6th Birthday. Today marks our 6th year of business so to celebrate we have invited street food artisans ‘Earth to Oven’ to our facility in Portsmouth for a delicious lunch. It’s been an incredible journey since our inception in 2018, certainly hasn’t been smooth sailing but as the saying goes “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” We couldn’t be prouder of the team of 33 that we have with us here today and who have supported us throughout. Thank you to everyone that has played a part in our journey. Customers, suppliers, friends or people that we don’t even know yet who have put our name forward to potential new customers after following our journey on here. Thank you for your continued support.

We are strong believers in the apprenticeship program. We have 2 apprentices going through our program at the moment:   Fin who is a 3rd year apprentice. Fin started off his apprenticeship 3 years ago learning about the different materials we machine, including plastics, carbon fibre and pattern block, where the materials can be a bit more forgiving. Fin has honed his skills to where he is machining more complex jobs from Aluminium and Steels to tighter tolerances. Looking toward the end of his apprenticeship, Fin is looking forward to becoming more autonomous within his role at Velocetec, whilst continuing to build on the great foundation the apprenticeship scheme has provided.   Dan who is a 1st year apprentice. Dan is starting his journey with Velocetec on the same path as Fin. Currently helping in the pattern room learning about the non-metallic components/materials. Dan enjoys the process of creating a physical component from a drawing or 3D model, seeing a raw billet of material transform into the finished component creates a high level of satisfaction for Dan, who is looking to utilise his practical knowledge of machining when in a design position in the future. Apprenticeship schemes like the one Velocetec in partnership with HSDC Havant & South Downs provide for Fin and Dan, help secure the future not just of Velocetec but the engineering & manufacturing industry in the UK. #nationalapprenticeshipweek #apprenticeship #ukmfg #futureofengineering

Velocetec Christmas Party 2023!         After the great hospitality shown to us last year, we once again held our Christmas party at Abar Bistro & Camber Wines in Old Portsmouth, on the weekend.    With great food and company, a good time was had by all.    The team has come a long way in just the last year, with 30 people joining us last year to over 50 this year.    After the effort and dedication the team shows week in, week out. It's great to share what that means to the business.    We have a great team here at Velocetec and it looks like 2024 is going to be yet another exciting year. We go again in 2024!

Dedicated non-metallic machining capacity! At Velocetec, we move with our customers' demands.    We saw a trend in more customers looking for a Technical Partner who have dedicated plastic and non-metallic machining capacity.   Recognising this trend we set up a dedicated cell purely to meet this demand.    These machines use air to cool the cutting tools rather than the traditional oil/water-based coolants. In fact, these machines have always been run 'dry'.    Why is this significant?    When serving the #medical markets, contaminants are a big factor, less risk of contamination means reduced extra processing time and cost, such as ultrasonic cleaning is required after the machining process. When machining certain plastics such as Nylon, hydroscopic water absorption must be considered, using air to cool the tools creates a more stable and consistent machining process. Add in the fact that this machining cell is housed in a temperature-controlled environment. We really are set up for all Plastic and non-metallic machining projects.
