388 kilometres, 6 days, 17,000m of climbing over 30 mountains. The Dragons Back race is widely regarded as the toughest mountain ultra in the world and is a race that Veloforte ambassador Simon Dent has taken to the start line for. Here's a sneak peak into what we got up to last week when we went and visited Simon Dent ahead of his latest race, the legendary Dragons Back. Considered to be one of the toughest mountain races in the world, Simon will be covering 380km with 16,400m of climbing in just 6 days fuelled by Veloforte. As part of this challenge, Simon will be fundraising for two charities, the Dallaglio RugbyWorks and @greenhousesports which you can find out more about in his Just Giving Page below. Over the past 2.5 weeks Liam Mahoney has been tackling The Tour 21, a challenge that sees 24 amateur riders complete the full Tour de France route one week ahead of the professionals. With only a few days to go to the finish in Nice, we caught up with Liam ahead of the final push. "The Tour 21 has tested me beyond measure and pushed me to breaking point both physically and mentally. The driving force that keeps turning the pedals is the cause we are riding for and the difference we are making to people's lives. When the going gets tough on many moments in the day, I think about the harrowing stories of those suffering with Leukaemia and without choices. 3,500km (2,175 miles) in 23 days, including two of those being rest days and climbing 55,320 metres, equivalent to six times the height of Mount Everest! That is the challenge this years riders of the Tour 21 will be tackling and Veloforte are supporting Liam Mahoney to take on this challenge to raise money for an incredible cause. "I'm riding all 21 stages of the Tour de France route to help raise £1m for Cure Leukaemia. In 2008, my girlfriends father sadly passed from Blood cancer and left a family without a father, husband and friend far too young. I'm also riding in celebration of my Nana, who survived lymphoma and defeated cancer. We need to find a cure for Leukaemia as 1 person every 14 minutes is diagnosed with Leukaemia. Manchester to London by bike, in one day. On Sunday, 122 riders conquered the 220-mile route between the heart of Manchester and the finish line in London, an event that Rapha has now put on for 10 year. Testing both physical and mental strength to raise both funds and awareness for Ambitious about Autism. We couldn't be prouder in helping support the riders with their fuelling. From attending a virtual talk to help educate the riders on our top tips for fuelling long distances to stocking the feed stations with a range of our products to help them successfully make it to London! This is just another example of Veloforte helping real people achieve amazing things through the use of real nutrition. A huge congratulations to all of the riders for an incredible achievement.
