🎉 We are delighted to announce that Verinnogen has been successful in its application to Innovate UK’s Analysis for Innovators programme. After submitting our vision for key design areas within our novel tumour measuring tool, Innovate UK facilitated matchmaking with the world-leading National Physical Laboratory (NPL). Using their deep expertise, we will work together to optimize the optical configuration of this next generation tool, helping to bring fast, precise, and more accurate tools to pre-clinical cancer researchers worldwide. 👏 A huge congratulations to the R&D team led by Mike IRVINE and a big thank you to Innovate UK for their continued support. Many people associate starting up in the BioTech/Healthcare/Life Sciences arena with spinning-out from academia, but Start Codon portfolio company, Verinnogen, is one company demonstrating one of the alternate routes to creating a venture. Founders Isaac Johnson (CEO) and Mike IRVINE (CTO) were matched through a Cambridge Enterprise programme, which paired Isaac’s oncology expertise with Mike’s medical-device product development experience.  They bootstrapped before securing Start Codon funding and support. They’ve now successfully built a prototype of their device for measuring physical properties of 3D surfaces, undertaken in vitro studies that show the need for such a device, and they’ve now secured additional funding and been shortlisted for the Cofinitive 21 to watch for 2024.
