We're #hiring a new Production Assistant 🎥

Hi all. Vermillion Films is looking for an office space in central Birmingham to use as a location for filming. There is a budget available. We're not looking for anything particularly cool or hipster, just a fairly generic looking office space with a reasonably large floor plate. It needs to have desks and chairs in place already and would ideally have monitors as well. We need to shoot on Tuesday 13th August.

When it comes to filming outside, lighting can be incredibly tricky. So, here are a few tips that may help: ◾️ The first key decision in outdoor lighting is knowing where to point the camera relative to the sun, to avoid flat and unpleasing front light. Where possible, try to shoot towards the sun as this will achieve a more flattering backlight and soft facial illumination. ◾️ Try to time your shoot based on the sun’s position to achieve the best lighting. Early morning or late afternoon are usually the better times, depending on the direction you are shooting. ◾️ You can improve facial lighting by using reflectors for bounce light and flags for negative fill - both will help to add contrast and depth to the subject’s face. ◾️ Be mindful of your surroundings as they can cast coloured reflections on the subject, affecting the mood or tone of the shot. When working with Cotswolds Distillery, our brief was to shoot some online video adverts for their drinks brand. However, this was during the COVID-19 pandemic when it was pretty hard to film adverts. As online brand video was a new area for the distillery, we were asked to see what results could be achieved from a relatively modest budget. The three films were variations of the same creative - different enough to be interesting, but also similar enough to be clearly from the same drinks advertising campaign. The results? Well, the campaign is ongoing but there were over 10,000 organic views in the first week and we also got some attention on Ads of the World, which is always lovely. Plus, CreativePool liked it so much that they highlighted the work on their homepage!
