Last Autumn, Viking Arms, in partnership with SMARTSHOOTER made a generous donation to support e50K Communities, a female-led social enterprise dedicated to improving the lives of Defence families. This funding has directly contributed to providing employment opportunities for Defence spouses, helping to break down the barriers that military families often face when seeking work. Why This Matters: According to the 2024 FAMCAS survey, 41% of Army families feel negative about their household income due to employment challenges, with 59% of spouses reporting difficulties finding suitable jobs. For many, being part of a Defence family negatively impacts their career progression. Viking Arms and SMARTSHOOTER have committed to helping alleviate this issue by funding employment for Defence spouses at the Bramble Woods project in Catterick. The Army’s close combat soldiers unveil the latest cutting-edge weapon sight, the SMASH X4 to give them a tactical advantage countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The SMARTSHOOTER SMASH Smart Weapon Sight Fire Control System gives the dismounted soldier the ability to achieve a high probability of hit against micro and mini UAVs. The capability can recognise a target, track its movements, and maintain a lock on the target even if it or the user moves. This Counter-Small Uncrewed Air Systems (C-sUAS) capability will initially be fitted to the SA80 A3 assault rifle and can also be fitted onto other in-service individual weapons. An initial order of 225 SMASH sights will be delivered under a £4.6million MoD contract to Very High Readiness units across the British Army by the end of this year. The contract with Yorkshire-based Viking Police & Military will allow further sights to be delivered over the next few years to dismounted close combat operators across the Army, Navy and RAF, based on operational and readiness commitments. https://lnkd.in/ern2GEKA #CUAS #SMASH #SmartShooter

Truly honoured yesterday to be a practice Inspecting Officer for the Army Foundation College Graduation Parade. It was both uplifting and moving to see these young soldiers emanating such pride in themselves, their achievement and their future. There is no doubt some are ‘naturals’, while some have had to overcome hardships and some have just had to dig a bit deeper than the rest. Without exception, they all looked immaculate as they jubilantly represented their next regiments. The AFC, the team, and the staff are doing something special.
