🚂 Have you heard that Virgin wants to launch new train services on the West Coast Main Line?   As an Open Access provider, Virgin would exist alongside the national operator, bringing 40 new daily services and 13,680 passenger seats to the line.   We would operate on routes from London to: 🚂 Birmingham 🚂 Liverpool 🚂 Preston 🚂 Rochdale   💭 But what do consumers and passengers think about having competition on the railways?   💡 Virgin’s research shows that most British consumers welcome competition and value having a choice about who to travel with between train operators.    Phil Whittingham, our Rail Project Lead says: “As we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the modern railway, we have an opportunity to be more ambitious about how train travel serves passengers across Great Britain. Open Access can complement nationalised services, with operators working in conjunction to accelerate growth, inject investment and get more people travelling by train. Open Access services create revenue, returning routes to profitability by growing the pie, rather than simply taking a slice of it.”    The Office of Rail and Road is expected to make a decision on our Open Access application later this month. Wilson Odhiambo, General Manager for Mahali Mzuri, commented: “I am thrilled to announce this exciting refurbishment of our beloved camp and to have the opportunity to encourage our guests to connect even further with Mahali Mzuri’s majestic surroundings and, of course, the wildlife. Our continued partnership with the local Maasai people is at the heart of everything we do" The newly refurbished camp will re-open in June, ready for guests to take their front row seats to the Great Migration 😍
